1 ASTRAGALUS (Huang Qi): A Chinese herb; an immune system booster, known to stimulate body’s natural production of interferon. It also helps the immune system identify rogue cells. Work with the herb in both cancer and AIDS cases has been encouraging. The MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas conducted research showing that taking Astragalus when having Radiotherapy doubled survival times.

2 BERBERIS FAMILY (e.g. Podophyllum peltanum): Slow active purgative. Research has shown these herbs to have a strong action against cancer and they have been used with many cancers, especially Ovarian cancer.

  

3 BLOOD ROOT (Sanguinaria canadensis): Research shows consistent anti-neoplastic activity. It is effective against cancer tumours, and can shrink them; and has proven useful with sarcomas.

4 BUTCHERS BROOM (Ruscus aculeatus): The active ingredients of this herb has been found to be the ruscogenins which have tumour-shrinking and anti-oestrogenic abilities. Thus its use in the treatment of breast cancer.

5 CAT’s CLAW (Uncaria tormentosa): An adaptogen and powerful immuno-stimulant, it enhances the white cells’ clean up process (phagocytosis). It is an excellent companion to astragalus, curcumin and echinacea. Research indicates it can reduce tumour size, particularly with skin cancers. It also helps reduce the side-effects of chemo and radiotherapy.

6 CHAPARRAL (Larrea mexicana): Cancer Watch covered a major research study from the US which heaped praise on this herb. It appears to boost the immune system, stop metastases and reduce tumour size. Seems especially interesting with breast cancer. It is also an anti-oxidant and anti-microbial, with low toxicity.

7 CURCUMIN (Turmeric): This spice (Curcuma longa or Turmeric root) has been shown to have significant anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activity. That alone seems enough for certain hospitals in America to consider using it in the treatment of polyps and colon cancer. However new research shows that it can both shrink cancer tumours and inhibit blood supply growth to tumours. It is a powerful antioxidant with liver protective benefits, and outperformed several anti-inflammatory drugs without side-effects in research.

8 DANG SHEN ROOT (Codonopsis pilosula): increases both the white blood cell and red blood cell levels, so can be extremely helpful to patients having chemotherapy and radiotherapy, or to patients whose cancer diminishes levels of either.

9 ECHINACEA: Another known immune system booster, it gained a populist reputation in treating colds.  There is research on its helpfulness with brain tumours apart from its abilities to increase the levels of certain immune white cells in the body.

10 FEVERFEW: This herb caused a storm when research from Rochester University in New York showed it to be more effective than the drug cytarabine in killing leukaemia cells. The US Food and Drug Agency put the active ingredient, parthenolide, on to its ‘fast track’ programme. Nothing has yet been heard. But then, the FDA has never approved a herb for use as a cancer treatment.

11 GOLDENSEAL: One cause of stomach cancer can be the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. This burrows into the mucous lining of the stomach to ‘hide’ from gastric acids, and then causes irritation, acid reflux, ulcers and even cancer. Goldenseal is generally anti-microbial and is used in the Caribbean and South East Asia against parasites. Goldenseal, helped by the mineral Bismuth, will kill Helicobacter pylori. Vets seem to know this, even if doctors don’t.

12 MILK THISTLE: Known for years to be helpful to the liver, this herb has now been shown to be capable of protecting the liver during chemotherapy. Research in America showed that leukaemia patients who took milk thistle had reduced liver toxicity and chemo side-effects. There is a little evidence that it has its own anti-cancer activity too.

13 PAU D’ARCO: This tree bark was original thought to be a strong anti-cancer agent, but then its actions were clarified as strongly anti-bacterial, anti-yeast and anti-microbial. That alone might be enough in some cases of cancer cause. But new research on the differing ingredients has shown the quinoids possess immune strengthening abilities and seem to help in cases of blood and lymph cancers.

14 RED CLOVER: Research from a number of centres including the Royal Marsden has shown its potential as a part of a treatment programme against oestrogen-driven cancers, from breast to prostate. One active ingredient in the so-called ‘Herb of Hippocrates’ is the anti-oestrogen Genistein.

15 SHEEP’s SORRELL: Used in Essiac and other herbal remedies it is a cleanser and aids healthy tissue regeneration. There is some suggestion from research that it helps ‘normalise’ damaged cells and tissue. It is also a highly praised ´vermifuge´ -worms have little or no resistance to this herb.

16 SKULLCAP (Scutellaria barbata): Research has shown action against many cancer types, for example against cancers of the lung, stomach and intestines.

17 SUTHERLANDIA (Cancer Bush): Peer reviewed research studies indicate that this herb is anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-fungal. It boosts the immune system and inhibits Tumour Necrosis Factor, known to drive ‘wasting’ in cancer patients.

18 THOROWAX, or HARES EAR (Bulpleurum scorzoneraefolium):shown its ability to enhance the production of natural interferon and it seems especially useful in bone cancer.

19 WHEATGRASS: One of the top private hospitals in South East Asia extols the benefits of freshly juiced wheatgrass. One shot gives you the chlorophyll of some 12 or more kilograms of broccoli. It acts as a blood purifier, and liver and kidney cleansing agent. After two weeks of daily use, blood and tissue oxygen levels improve, as does circulation. And oxygen is the enemy of the cancer cell, as Otto Warburg told the world.

20 WORMWOOD: Another Chinese Herb, this has outperformed certain anti-malaria drugs and is now used by the aid agencies. It is strongly anti-microbial and anti-yeast and can be used as an effective part of an anti-candida diet. Also certain cancer treatments cause excesses of yeasts to form (for example, in Leukaemia treatment) threatening the patient’s health further. Excess yeasts are even felt by some cancer experts to be one of the causes of cancer. However, in recent research Wormwood has been shown to have direct anti-cancer properties.

POWERFUL HERBS AGAINST CANCER

During creation, God placed on earth all foods which are essential in maintaining healthy body. He gave us the vitamins, minerals, herbs, antioxidants, plant extracts and

other nutrients the body needs in order to prevent illness and maintain healthy condition. There are herbs which have been truly a great blessing to mankind because of their versatility in providing medical benefits. Among these are garlic, milk thistle and curcumin.

**GARLIC**

Garlic has cholesterol and triglyceride-lowering, anti-clotting, anti-bacterial and anti-tumor effects. Its main component sulfur containing phytochemicals is helpful in combating free-radicals.

Garlic contains "organosulfur compounds." Research studies revealed that occurrence of cancer is lowest where the consumption of organosulfur-rich foods is greatest. It is furtherly revealed in the studies that organosulfur compounds hinders the growth of human breast cancer cells. Organosulfur compounds also protect the body against liver cancer caused by aflatoxin. Garlic's potentiality in being an anti-cancer agent is mainly due to the ability of the organosulfur compounds to increase antioxidant activity and to directly hinder the growth of tumor.

A study conducted by Dr. T. Abdullah of the Akbar Clinic and Research Institute in Panama, Florida demonstrated how garlic boosts anticancer immune function. This study revealed that the subjects who ate raw garlic possess natural killer cells that destroyed 140 to 160 percent more cancer cells than those did not eat garlic.

In six of ten studies, garlic extracts rich in allicin lowered total blood cholesterol by an average of 24.8 milligram per deciliter, LDL by an average of 15.3 mg/ dL and triglycerides 38 mg/dL - all significant enough to have an effect on heart disease risk.

The antidiabetes effect of garlic was proven in a research study done by the US Department of Agriculture Human Nutrition Center in Beltsville, Maryland. This research demonstrated decreases in blood sugar and enhancements in insulin activity with the use of garlic.

**MILK THISTLE**

Milk Thistle are flowering plants of the daisy family which are native to Mediterranean regions of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East and has scientific name silybum marianum. Traditional uses for milk thistle included treatment of varicose veins, menstrual problems, depression and low breastmilk production. Sofar, its most significant use is as a liver supporter.

Liver detoxification makes a great number of free radicals. This is the reason why the liver contains a high concentration of natural antioxidants specifically glutathione. Milk thistle has been used to treat liver disorders, including cirrhosis and hepatitis since the times of the Romans. Modern research reveals that its active component , the flavanoid "silymarin" has remarkable antioxidant power that centers in the tissues of the liver.

Milk thistle is the antidote to death cap mushroom poisoning. Taking large doses of milk thistle can be lifesaving if you have swallowed the wrong kind of mushroom. Milk thistle protects the liver against man-made poisons which includes carbon tetrachloride, thioacetamide( a man-made chemical that causes cirrhosis) and heavy metals.

Milk thistle neutralizes free radicals in the liver, partially by raising levels of glutathione,

peroxidase and suproxide dismutase (another antioxidant enzyme) in liver cells. Milk thistle also hinders the production of biochemicals that accelerate excessive inflammation of the liver. Milk thistle also stimulates ha growth of new liver cells. It literally regenerates liver tissues. Studies claim that phytochemicals from milk thistle protect liver cells against DNA damage, and stabilize immune cells that drive the inflammatory process.

Milk thistle may also be beneficial therapy for diabetes. In a study made by Chinese researchers, which involved fourteen patients with type 2 diabetes. These patients took milkthistle for four weeks and it was observed that their red blood cell sorbital levels(a measurement of high blood sugar) dropped 50 percent. Psoriasis, an inflammatory skin condition has also been controlled with milk thistle supplementation.

Some research claims hat flavanoids from milk thistle help the kidneys to perform their detoxifying activities effectively. Milk thistle has also shown the ability to slow down the growth of human breast, prostrate and cervical cancer cells in testtube studies.

**CURCUMIN (CURCUMA LONGA) **

Curcumin or turmeric is a bright yellow orange spice that belongs to the ginger family. It has been used as a culinary spice and medical herb for thousands of years. A massive body of research reveals that "curcumin" may well be our most powerful natural helper in our fight against cancer.

In one test-tube study, the growth of human breast cancer cells enhanced by 17-beta estradiol- the strongest natural estrogen- was blocked 98 prcent, the growth of cancer cells to which the xenobiotic DDT was added slowed down by 75 percent when curcumin was also added; and the effect of combination of toxic chemicals chlordane and endosulfane, which is known to have induced breast cancer growth was inhibited 90 percent with the addition of curcumin.

Curcumin also blocks other non-estrogenic chemicals that cause cancer including diethylnitrosamine and dioxine. Curcumin blocks the activity of cancer growth factors such as NF-kappa B, certain cytokines, protein kinase C and interleukin-8. Curcumin

Is a natural inhibitor of the inflammation-causing COX enzymes.

In a test-tube study, curcumin prevented all DNA damage in bacteria that were exposed to lethal doses of radiation, Curcumin interrupts the cycle of cancer cells in a particular stage of growth. Meat cooked over an open flame forms carcinogenic chemicals. A meat marinade made with curcumin was shown to reduce the formation of carcinogenic chemicals. Curcumin has also proven benefits of immunity, wound healing and heart health by reducing blood lipids and preventing LDL oxidation.

Below is a herb formula against cancer: kelp seaweed licorice root digitalis or nerium (depending on availability) orris root solanum lyratum sophora subprostrata root ===================================== Although, one may read stories of people getting over cancer using one herb, those cases are far and few and represent only a small percentage of successful cases. One can learn a lot from Chinese medicine in treating cancer. For cancers, Chinese medicine use Primary herbs - a number of herbs which are the main arsenals against cancer. Plus Secondary herbs - a set of herbs to assist and reinforce against the disease. Today, there are a lot of research material on the biological processes going on inside the cancer cell that explain how malignant cells are able to defend and resist chemotherapy and other drugs. Research has shown that certain

cancers tumors are able to divert drugs out of tumors. Cancer cells are also able to produce substances that bind to medicinal drugs or neutralize them. The malignant cells may be able to produce these substances to counter one or two drugs but they will have a harder time against a whole range of anticancer substances. For these reasons, the correct way of using herbs to fight cancer - not one but a whole range of herb combinations. My company, Lux Health Resources has gone over journals, data and screened hundreds of herbs and their plant constituents that show promise against cancer/tumors. There's more info today from research and journals on phyto-chemicals(plant chemicals) that are good candidates for use against many cancers. We also conducted herb trials to find the correct and safe dosages for human use. There are new and exciting discoveries too. Cancers are capable of living forever if grown in a lab. APOPTOSIS - means progammed cell death. Research on apoptosis proves that cancers can be induced or forced to die. It is these research on apoptosis that should bring hope to more cancer patients. When one reads literature that a herb is able to cause apoptosis (cell death) to cancer cells, one should distinguish if apoptosis/cell death occured in vitro(outside the body) or in vivo(in an animal or human subject). This is an important criteria because the concentration of the drug capable of killing cancer may not be attainable when ingested by the subject. For example, emodin tested outside the body is very effective against many cancers. However, emodin is poorly soluble in water and not much is absorbed into the body if ingested. Again baicalin from scutellaria herb, is absorbed slowly and quickly excreted by the kidneys , concentrations in the body can not produce apoptosis unlike in a test tube. A herbal combination must not only have herbs that inhibit the abnormal cell but also should be able to kill cancer. If all the herbs in a formula are only able to inhibit malignancy, there is going to be trouble. A good formula MUST have 2 or more herbs that can kill cancer while remaining safe for the host. By SAFE, we mean non-toxic and can be taken for long term use. In screening herbs, we eliminated the toxic ones (ex. Gelsemium alkaloids cause spinal injury, herbs containing aristolochic acid damage the kidneys). Below is the formula my company has included from our own trials: Nerium oleander and/or Digitalis - TCM used "Chan su"(toad venom) for various forms of cancers. ChanSu's active ingredient, bufalin acts like the glycosides from Nerium & Digitalis. Several articles explain their actions, here's 2: "Induction of apoptosis by bufalin in human tumor cells in associated with changes of intracellular concentration of Na+ ions J. Biochem. 1999,126 pp. 278-86. "Digitoxin in non-toxic concentration inhibits proliferation & induces cell death in prostate cancer" Z. Onkol.2000,32 pp.11-16. Lately, scientists(Norway) state that cancer cultures from brain, blood, breast & prostate have shown that digitoxin from plant digitalis in non-toxic concentrations lead to apoptosis in cell cultures. It is reported that many patients taking digitalis for heart ailments had cancers that were less malignant than those without digitalis. Also, taking digitalis increases the effects of radiation therapy for tumors/cancers. Nerium oleander is also manufactured as " Anvirzel" for cancer but available only in Honduras. Orris root -tests reveal that orris extracts combined with other cancer herbs especially herbs that are cytotoxic(kills cancer) speeds-up the effectivity of treatment. Herbal books say that there are no health hazards associated with this herb with proper therapeutic dosages. Kelp Seaweed - blood cells exposed to heavy metals especially mercury, lose their ability to

fight bacteria and tumors. People get mercury from fish and dental amalgam. Kelp contains alginic acid which has the ability to combine with mercury and impede absorption. Licorice- has a history of use by Western, Chinese and Ayurvedic cultures. TCM often use licorice in their cancer formulas. Damage to the liver by toxins often show up by raised liver enzymes. Licorice is able to lower these levels. Studies show that Licorice affords protection to the liver from chemotherapy and toxins. Solanum lyratum - in my trip to Brazil, I talked with locals using a solanum species for cancer. The solanum plants have a history of being used by various cultures in Asia, Africa, S. America. TCM uses various species. Author and herbalist, Lesley Bremness says in her book HERBS, "Solanum lyratum has strong inhibiting action on cancer cells without affecting normal cells." Sophora subprostrata - is a TCM herb known as shan dou gen. It contains sophoranone- a compound that that has shown effective for leukemia. It targets mitochondria. In the book "Best of Traditional Chinese Medicine" p. 97 by Xie Zhu-Fan, the author states that S. subprostrata impairs nucleic acid metabolism in cancer cells. This herb is safe. TCM uses doses of 9 to 15 grams a day without toxicity. This formula has been tried and found effective for Lung cancer, Breast cancer, Brain cancer, Uterine cancer, Intestinal cancer, Stomach cancer, Liver cancer, Lymphomas (Hodgkins and non-Hodgkins), Testicular cancer, Esophageal cancer. We have not done tests on skin cancer, leukemia and bone cancer. The herb formula's success rate is 55%. Aside from killing cancer cells, the herb combination is able to halt the rapid growth of cancer. Note: There are 8 herbs in the formula. Formulas such as Essiac, Hoxsey, Tian Xian have been duplicated by a number of companies. There are 2 more herbs in the formula that cause cancer cell death at non-toxic doses. Turmeric in the fight against cancer

Among the many benefits attributed to Turmeric or Curcumin, its cancer-fighting abilities are now being intensely researched. Turmeric's anti-inflammatory effects, anti-oxidant activity and its ability to modulate the immune system are said to be the reason for its beneficial effects on diseases such as arthritis, Alzheimers disease, heart disease and cancer.

In a study in Germany, it was shown that turmeric extract had the most potent antioxidant activity as compared to garlic, artichoke leaf, devils claw root and salmon

Turmeric's tumor suppressive activity was shown in a study at the University of Leicester, London. It inhibited COX2 an isoform which in excessive quantities causes colon cancer, breast cancer and skin cancer. Curcumin was able to suppress and block tumor progression by five mechanisms including antioxidation, inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolism, modulation of cellular signal transduction pathways, inhibition of hormone and growth factor activity and inhibition of oncogene activity.

Turmeric has been shown to be a broad spectrum anti-cancer agent. Scientists at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center have stated that "extensive research over the last 50 years has indicated this polyphenol can both prevent and treat cancer. The anticancer potential of curcumin stems from its ability to suppress proliferation of a wide variety of tumor cells, down-regulate transcription factors NF-kappa B, AP-1 and Egr-1; down-regulate the expression of COX2, LOX, NOS, MMP-9, uPA, TNF, chemokines, cell surface adhesion molecules and cyclin D1; down-regulate growth factor receptors (such as EGFR and HER2); and inhibit the activity of c-Jun N-terminal kinase, protein tyrosine kinases and protein serine/threonine kinases. In several systems, curcumin has been described as a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Evidence has also been presented to suggest that curcumin can suppress tumor initiation, promotion and metastasis. Pharmacologically, curcumin has been found to be safe. Human clinical trials indicated no dose-limiting toxicity when administered at doses up to 10 g/day. All of these studies

I am a mom with a million things to do and not enough time to do it all. I’m loving every minute of it, though.  I’m homeschooling my two children and together we are learning to use our yard to grow as much as we can.  We’ve become passionate about collecting plants. Cancer is defined as an uncontrolled growth of a group of cells in the body. There are many types and locations of cancer cells, as well as many treatments. It used to be a running joke that the Jamaicans touted ganja as a cure for cancer. “Yeah man, it cure your cancer ya' know.” We would laugh, but the joke was on us when it turned out to be kind of true. Although cannabis does not cure cancer, research shows that it can definitely help fight it. So when my friend from Jamaica recently told me about guinea hen weed being a possible treatment for cancer, I didn’t laugh. I listened intently.

Guinea hen weed (Petiveria alliacea) is an herb that grows wildly all over the island of Jamaica and it’s showing a lot of promise in the fight against cancer, including breast and prostate. 

I’ve done a lot of research on the fascinating herb and learned that it’s been used in herbal medicine for quite a long time. It’s been used for pain relief and ailments such as diabetes, arthritis, flu and cold, infections, and ... cancer. Guinea hen weed has been studied in-depth recently by scientists and there’s lots of information about it on the internet.

Out of 1,400 plants that were studied by The University of Illinois for cancer prevention and treatment, guinea hen weed was found to have phytochemicals that directly kill cancer cells. The news gets even better. This herb can actually pinpoint and kill only the cancer cells. At the same time, the herb boosts the immune system and helps the disease-fighting cells to do their job. Do you find this herb as fascinating as I do?

Now the negative news. It can cause miscarriages and abortions. It also acts as a blood thinner because it contains a small amount of coumadin. Oh … and it really stinks. It stinks so much so that Jamaicans have used it traditionally to keep bad spirits away. They spread the leaves around to deter duppies. (Duppies, a Jamaican word for ghosts.) My Jamaican friend told me this and he swore he wasn’t making this up. I was thinking of trying it. 

I bought this bag of guinea hen weed at a health food store in Kingston at a local mall called Sovereign. The price on the label says $200, but that’s in Jamaican

I tried to get a picture of the plant. We hiked through my friend’s jungle-like yard to the spot where it was growing. When we reached the spot, he started cussing. He said people keep stealing it from his yard. So, I didn’t get the photo.

Herbs That Fight CancerChemo is cell poison; no one denies that. Since cancer cells reproduce themselves much faster than normal cells, the rationale behind chemo is that the cancer cells will absorb more of the cell poison, and die quickly.

But all of the body's 75 trillion cells absorb at least some of the cell poison. The cells in your stomach lining and the hair-cells on your head are also quick at replicating themselves. That's why patients who are given chemo often go bald, and have terrible nausea.

The chemo may well kill some of the cancer cells; perhaps even a tumor. However, the chemo will also completely turn off yourimmune system. Some of the cancer cells or tumors will survive the chemo. When your immune system is no longer operating, thosecancer cells will quickly spread to other parts of the body. In six months or a year, the cancer will reappear, stronger than ever."Sorry!" the doctors will say. "We thought we got it all,"

Chemo chemicals are SO dangerous that the nurses who handle them wear leather aprons, face masks, and strong rubber gloves. Why? Because if a drop of the chemo liquid should spill on their arm, it will burn a hole in the skin. Ask your chemotherapist if he'llsmear some of the chemo liquid he plans to give your son, on his own arm. Watch the sick smile appear on his face. End of conversation.

Here are some suggestions for you that I think will help to heal you of this terrible affliction:

1) Pau d'arco (POW-darko) is a legendary herb from the Amazon rainforest that is a proven cancer killer -- PARTICULARLY of childhood leukemia. It has been used successfully inSouth America for an enormous number of illnesses since the time of the Incas.

Andreas Moritz , a well-respected healer who has a forum here on CZ, has praised the healing powers of pau d'arco in his book.Timeless Secrets of Health & Rejuvenation. Andreas says that the doctors at the Municipal Hospital in Santo Andre, Brazil, have successfully used pau d'arco to heal cancer, diabetes, psoriasis, venereal diseases, rheumatism, bronchitis, Parkinson's disease,and a host of other illnesses and degenerative conditions.

Andreas tells this story of a 5 year-old girl who suffered from leukemia, and who was about to die. Her parents, in desperation, took her to the clinic of a Doctor Ruiz, who began treating the girl with lapacho (pau d'arco) tea. In just 6 days, she had improved noticeably. Six weeks later, the little girl walked out of the clinic completely cured.

Pau d'arco is the only known herb/food/ chemical agent that destroys both toxic bacteria AND toxic viruses. It strengthens the immune system and heals and harmonizes and balances all the cells and organs in the body.

I suggest you buy some pau d'arco powder and begin giving yourself a level teaspoonful of it twice a day, mixed in grape juice. You can also use it to brew tea, but some people don't like odd-tasting teas. The grape juice (organic juice, NOT the junk sold insupermarkets) will conceal the taste. Organic apple juice would be fine, too.

I take a level teaspoonful of pau d'arco and graviola (my next suggestion) every third day, as part of my cancer-prevention program. 2) Graviola sounds like some kind of Italian fast-food, but it's another famous cancer-killer from the Amazon rainforest. Andreas says that graviola is 10,000 times more toxic to colon cancer cells than chemotherapy. Just think about that for a moment! And unlikechemo, graviola has NO harmful side effects.

Andreas tells a story about graviola that I've also heard from other sources. In the early 1990s, one of the biggest pharmaceuticalcompanies in America began a massive research program to see if they could synthesize the cancer-killing ingredients in graviola andcreate a synthetic version. Why? Because you can't patent an herb; you can only patent (and thereby make LOTS of money) from yourown synthetic version of it. This company tried for 7 years, but they couldn't come up

with their own version of graviola. However,the evidence they accumulated during those seven years proved beyond a doubt that graviola, the herb, was a miraculous cancer-killer.

Did they let the world know that? No, they didn't. Instead, the directors of the giant pharmaceutical company swore all its scientists to secrecy, and destroyed all the information they'd learned. It would still be a secret if one man, the only one with a conscience, hadn't broken the story to the media -- most of whom ignored it.

So I'd also start on a teaspoonsful of graviola at least once a day. You can buy it from Raintree Nutrition.

3) My third suggestion is that you buy a bottle or two of AHCC. Doctor David Williams, one of the very best and most respected alternative physicians, devoted 5 pages of his print newsletter (called Alternatives) of September, 2004, to the cancer-killing, cancer-healing powers of AHCC. I trust Doctor Williams implicitly, so I immediately bought a bottle of AHCC, and began taking a capsuleevery other day.

AHCC is a blend of medicinal mushrooms like shitake, maitake, and cordyceps. It also has an extract of rice bran at its core.

Williams says that AHCC "provides an immediate, sustained boost to your immune system that is unlike any other compound, synthetic or natural, that I have seen. It's a very powerful tool in the treatment ofcancers such as leukemia, and those of the breast, ovary, cervix, prostate, and liver." He adds that AHCC slows or prevents cancersfrom spreading to other parts of the body. And it has no toxic side-effects.

4) I know a lot about large, daily doses of vitamin C. I've been taking mega-doses since 1977. I took 6 to 10 grams (6,000 to 10,000mg) for 25 years, and since 2002, I've been taking 14 grams every day. I space the doses out over the waking day, since our bodiesuse vitamin C quickly. During all those years, I've had only one cold: a mild, three-day flu that somehow snuck through my defenseslast February. I cured it quickly by taking 60,000 mg of vitamin C in one day. Aside from that mini-cold, I have not been sick at all. I give the vitamin C much of the credit.

Cancer patients, in particular, need LOTS of vitamin C. Vitamin C is ammunition which the immune system uses to fight off all kinds ofillnesses. Doctor Thomas Levy, in his wonderful book, Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases, & Toxins, cites case after case of cancer patients, who were written off by their doctors, and

cured by intravenous doses of vitamin C. Patients in Australia have been given as much as 500,000 mg of intravenous vitamin C (sodium ascorbate) in one day, and had no bad reactions.

I weigh 140 lbs, and so I take 14 grams each day: 1 gram for every 10 lbs of body-weight. If I'm healthy, and take, say, 20 grams, Iget a mild case of diarrhea. That's known as bowel tolerance. It's your body's way of telling you that it doesn't need that muchvitamin C.

But when you're sick, as I was last February, my body needed lots more vitamin C to fight off that cold. I took 60 grams and neverhad a bowel tolerance reaction. Cancer patients can take much larger doses, and never reach bowel tolerance, because theirbodies are using the vitamin C to fight the cancer.

So if I had a child with leukemia, I would try to arrange for an intravenous dose of vitamin C. If that's not possible, I would start the child with several grams a day of vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbate crystals. The second week, I'd increase the dose. He's almost surely not going to reach bowel tolerance in normal mega-doses. Even several grams a day will behelpful to him. Read Doctor Levy's book, if possible, and do some research on your own.

2) There are a variety of green superfoods on the market. I think that everyone, sick or healthy, should take at least a teaspoonfulof some green superfood every day. Why? Because they contain nutrients that are not found in the Standard American Diet; nutrientsthat bodies need to remain healthy.

Most good green superfoods contain chlorella, enzymes, probiotics, algae, sprouts, barley and wheatgrass, and a variety of healing herbs. Some of them are expensive, and others are quite inexpensive. Here are some of my favorites:

A) Greens+ is the grand-daddy of green superfoods. I've been using it since 1985. I give it much of the credit for my good health. Greens+ comes in a 9.4 oz cannister.
