Twelve months ago, I stood in front of you, our membership, and gave you what I felt to be our theme for the year – what have we done for you lately? It is a phrase that would remind us, as directors of the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce, that we cannot rest on our past accomplishments, but that the value our members receive is only as great as what we have done today.

Looking back on the year, I am proud of the efforts of our board, of our staff, and of our members. We have developed and implemented a new three-year strategic plan that will guide us through 2021. This is a plan that was based on extensive feedback from a membership as well as a comprehensive and introspective process at a board level. We have hosted luncheons and events with political leaders and thought leaders in an effort to provide our membership with information and educational opportunities. We have developed the Made in BC tradeshow that was highly successful in 2018 and will be taken to even greater heights in this coming year. We said farewell to our executive director and are completing the search for a new leader of our organization.

A very special thank you to our Board of Directors and specifically our executive team for providing guidance and support over this past year. And thank you to our incredible staff team who, despite all the transitions, continue to deliver industry-leading support and services to our membership. And finally thank you to our members who are, ultimately the reason that we exist. This chamber is in great hands and I look forward to seeing amazing things in the next year.

Joshua Knaak President, 2018-2019
