A Note from the Pastor’s Desk Dear Parishioners, Of course, with Labor Day weekend comes the unofficial end of Summer. It’s a little sad to see Summer winding down, because Summer usually means at least a little bit of a slowdown, or a break from routine, and perhaps the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors a bit more. This Summer has not been scorch-ing hot too often, so if someone likes being outside, they probably had the chance to so.
I know many of the college students have already gone off to school, and some for the first time. Let’s all say prayers for all students and their families. May the Lord keep them safe and happy.
This weekend, our second Parochial Vicar, or assistant Priest, arrives. Fr. Christian Amah is coming from St. Clare’s parish in Staten Island, and is in his second year of Priesthood. I know we will welcome Father Amah with open arms. Fr. Amah is joining me and Fr. Wilson as full-time priests in this parish. We are here for you!
Our two Summer priests this year, Fr. William and Fr. Raphael, were a great help to me. They are prayerful, faithful priests and Fr. William has just returned to his native Ghana. Fr. Raphael will be off to Nigeria soon and we have been blessed to have them at St. Patrick’s. It would have been a very different Summer without their priestly ministry and their kindness.
As everything starts up again in the parish, Fr. Wilson, Fr. Amah and I hope to be present to all the various groups, beginning with St. Patrick’s School and Religious Education, as much as possible. Please let me know about the most important events for the various groups so that we don’t miss anything.
We should all thank God together for this wonderful parish family.
