I. Research – All research will be conducted in class using resources provided by your teacher.

Resource materials must stay in class and cannot be taken home. Thus, it is important not to be absent during research days and to be on task at all times in class. When you have finished your research, you will turn in note cards to be graded (15 cards minimum).

II. Paper – Your paper must be written in MLA format (details will be provided). It must be

typed, 12-point font, double-spaced, and contain indented paragraphs. Research information must be organized into the following sections:

1. In the Beginning: (5-8 complete sentences) – Provide thorough background information about your topic. You must include at least one direct quotation in this section.

• People – Birth? Parents? Siblings? Childhood? • Events - Origins? Causes? Influences? Early years?

2. Times of Trial: (5-8 complete sentences) – Describe the challenges your topic had to overcome. Was there opposition? Did they face struggles? Did your topic have an effect on other people, events, or on history? You must include at least one direct quotation in this section.

3. Significant Milestones: (5-8 complete sentences) – What did your topic accomplish? What was your topic known for? You must include at least one direct quotation in this section.

• People – Accomplishments? Achievements? Awards? Successes? • Events – Important dates? Historical Achievements/Influences?

4. After All is Said and Done: (3-5 complete sentences) – Summarize the conclusion of your topic – death, end, resolution, etc. You must include at least one direct quotation in this section.

5. Lessons To Live By: (3-5 complete sentences) – What can we learn from your topic? How has this topic affected you? Offer thoughtful insight into the lessons you learned through researching this topic.

III. Works Cited Page – The Works Cited Page is a list of all the sources used to help you

research and create your paper (see example Works Cited Page). We will discuss how to format this in class and you will use easybib.com to help you correctly format this page.

IV. Multigenre Options – In addition to your research paper, you will create two genre

pieces based on your research that you will present orally to the class (see options + examples below). You must choose one Art genre piece and one Written genre piece.
