Jain’s Workshop on Vastu & NumerologyHK/TCVN: Vijay Jain, eminent Vastu & Numerology Consultant had held a workshop in a renowned North Calcutta auditorium recently. Vijay Jain stated that Vastu shastra is an ancient Indian science of harmony and prosperous living, by eliminating negative and enhancing positive energy around us. There are certain rules which need to follow while making a building, like sizes of rooms, thickness of walls, length and breadth etc. It helps the person to live a peaceful life. Vijay Jain is an expert in using the Pyramid concept in Vastushastra. He informed, “Pyramids work as an antenna to bring in cosmic energy. Placing pyramids in the four corners of house helps deflect the negative energy and improve positive energy flow.” He further added that Vastushastra is the science of directions that also aims at creating sustainable positive energies essentially required for a sound health. Vastu talks about the energies and works on the philosophy of positive & negative energies. It is quite possible to provide services to clients who are far away, without having physical proximity. “Numerology is the universal language of numbers. By breaking down the patterns of the universe into numbers, we are able to uncover information about the World as a whole, as well as every individual,” Vijay added. As per Vijay Jain, currently in India, approximately 40-50% persons are following Vastu & Numerology and it will be 60-65% in coming 3 years. Vastu principles are used to improve all spheres of life like Health, Finance, Relations, Education, Business, etc. Vijay Jain also appealed to non-believers that they should understand the subject scientically rst and then evaluate results, irrespective of their personal belief, likes or dislike.

Anit Mukerjea: Not many people have left behind an enriched legacy of their past activities except for a few, rare exceptional individuals of which Satyajit Ray is a shining example for others to emulate. Though a bit low-prole as compared to cameraman Nemai Ghosh, Hirak Sen has managed to visualize and conjure up through his camera lens many fleeting moods and moments of Ray during a shoot including some slices of his personal life. This was perceived at a recently concluded photographic exhibition on June 4 titled ‘Unveiled photographs of Satyajit Ray’ which drew curious viewers even on the last day of the exhibition at the Gaganendra Shilpa Pradarshansala. Unlike Nemai Ghosh, Hirak Sen may not be deemed as Ray’s Boswell but nevertheless, Sen did manage to grab a number of the onlookers attention with

a r e p e r t o i r e o f r a r e photographs mounted on display. The eye catchers unveiled some unusual photos of Ray having a chat with another lm titan Tapan Sinha, a shot with Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor at the Indrapuri studios including Manikda with his assistant Ramesh Sen during the shooting of Pather Panchali. There are scenes captured with an element of light and shade w h e r e t h e d i r e c t o r i s supervising Smita Patil’s make-up for the tele lm Sadgati and myriads of personal moments with Ray’s prole held in camera where he is seen holding a pipe close to his lips. H i r ak Sen ’s v i sua l impressions of the master stay in the mind for its realistic approach to an era that has long passed into the a n n a l s o f t i m e . T h e exhibition was inaugurated by his lm-maker son Sandip Ray.

    Hirok's Camera Conjures Up Ray

Anit Mukerjea: While most photographers capture through their camera lens the different facets of life, photographer Debjit Routh h a s c h o s e n v i s u a l i z e through camera eyes the festival of colours – Holi as his pre dominant theme in his recent solo exhibition Jiboner Rang showcased at the New South Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. Thirty large sized c o l o u r e d p r i n t s w e r e mounted on show to rivet the viewers’ attention. It marks Routh’s third solo exhibition of photographs; the earlier two were based on the theme of the tribal people of Bengal including a creative photography of natural landscapes.

    I n a u g u r a t e d b y e m i n e n t a r t i s t Shuvaprassanna, who spoke in favour of some of the exhibits on display, Debjit learnt the ropes in the art of photography from Sisir Chowdhury, brother-in-law of the late UK based English n o v e l i s t N i r a d C . Chowdhury. The scenes of live actions in Routh’s p h o t o g r a p h s a r e authentically visualized through his works where people, both young and old are engaged in a play of vibrant colours against the backdrop of Burdwan next to the Damodar River. Being born and brought up there is perhaps the basic objective behind his muse in the festival of Holi.
