A Message from the Founder

Sometimes you choose your job, but some jobs

choose you. From the moment I stepped into the

everyday lives and culture of people that speak

the Russian language, I have not been able to stop

trying to help in some way to ease the pain and

suffering of the most vulnerable.

Eastern European orphans have everything stacked against them. They are a subclass with low expectations who have very little opportunity to move up in society. With, in most cases, an inferior education, limited access to resources, and non-existent networks of family connections, they face almost impossible odds to overcome and succeed in life.

Connection is the greatest need of children who grow up without parents.

Abandonment leaves them feeling detached from the world outside the institution. Once these kids leave the orphanages, there is a fork in the road they travel. One is to a life of despair, drugs, unplanned pregnancy and sometimes even sex trafficking. The other is full of love, hope and a successful life including a university education.

In the following pages, you will learn how Allies in Youth Development has greater expectations for these orphans and partners with people just like you in America, Eastern Europe, and most recently, Southeast Asia to save these beautiful children from a life of sure destruction.

How We Make A Difference

Take Russia For Example

Allies in Youth Development understands that the best way we can help orphans around the world is to train local, in-country volunteers.

These children need to have adults at home they can depend upon on a daily basis instead of waiting for the next group of foreigners to rescue them. Allies uses proven methodology developed and reviewed by professional psychologists, university professors, and other experts from across the globe as a foundation for long-term success.

that aren’t available through the government.

These orphans need education, training and opportunities

who age out of orphanages in Russia without going to university will be homeless, get involved in crime and drugs, and get lost in the world of human trafficking.

It is estimated that nearly half of the 480,000+ children

to attend five years of University, complete with room and board.

The Russian government will pay for these children

Unlike American kids who can take entrance exams as many times as needed, Russian orphans get one chance... ONE.

ALLIESMENTORINGPROGRAM

MENTORS

In-country university students are uniquely positioned to reach the younger generation.

Allies trains and invests in teams of university students to work with local orphanages as mentors.

This basic interaction lays the foun-

dation for the proven AMP Strategy.

Older orphans are provided with the

opportunity to attend summer camps

with non-orphans where mentors

serve as camp counselors.

Mentors build relational bridges through monthly visits for

recreation, holiday and birthday parties and gifts.

From learning about the dangers

of street life, to cooking, budget-

ing and visiting the doctor, orphans

learn the basic skills needed to

simply survive. At times, profes-

sional psychologists are invited to

help the orphans overcome their

struggles in life.

Mentors lead seminars to teach orphans basic

life skills.

Mentors help orphans set goals and

begin to prepare for entrance

requirements to professional schools

or universities. Online tutoring pro-

vides the opportunity for the orphans

to help them master the critical sub-

jects required for their one chance to

pass a university entrance exam.

Mentors provide information about educational opportunities for orphans in their last 3 years

of primary school.

Human Trafficking Prevention

Kits for Kids (U.S. Based)

Direct Support

According to the US Department of State, Sex and Labor, Human Trafficking

is a major problem in around the world, with no real plan to address the issue.

Teens who age out of orphanages with no plans or life skills are a prime

target for human traffickers. Allies provides training to inform older orphans

about the human trafficking industry and gives them steps to avoid being

caught.

In some cases, children are removed from an abusive home with

nothing more than what they can carry. Items such as clothing,

hygiene products, school supplies, and toys are collected here

in the states and shipped to the volunteer mentors to give to the

orphans during their monthly visits to support AMP initiatives.

Vietnam faces identical issues to Russia and Eastern Europe where orphans and human trafficking are

concerned. A need for human connection and basic necessities in orphanages sets these children up to be

drawn into a flourishing human trafficking industry. Duplicating Eastern European Allies programs in Vietnam

empowers Vietnamese orphans to lead a life of freedom and success.

Financial support is critical to the success of orphans.

Allies offers assistance to adoptive families, single

mothers, and special needs orphans who are aging out

of the system.

Our StoriesDimitri - 20 years oldMy name is Dimitri, I am from a small village in Voronezh region.

I was put in the baby house when I was only a few days old so I do not remember my

mother or father. I only have memories of the orphan houses where I have lived. I now live

and study at Voronezh State University. I met the Allies mentors when I lived in the orphan

house in Talavaya. They told me that my future was only in my hands and helped me in

many ways to find the road to success. I was able to graduate from the orphanage and go

to technical school to learn a profession and now I am in the state university studying to

be a lawyer. When I can travel back to the orphanage with the volunteers, it makes me so

happy to tell the children that there is hope and a way into the society.

After an incredible turn of events and some help from Allies, things are looking up

for Lena and her young son Dima. In 2017 Allies discovered Lena as a teenager with a

newly born baby, living homeless and moving around from place to place. Through

some connections and a little work, Allies helped Lena secure an apartment from the

government.

This was a great blessing, however, in 2018 Lena’s friend accidentally caught the

apartment on fire. Because of the laws of the country and the lack of any insurance

(which is not common there), Lena was responsible for paying for all damages, which

was insurmountable considering Lena’s circumstances.

Allies stepped in and helped Lena pay down a large portion of the expenses, leaving

her with a monthly payment she could afford. Also, Lena’s interest in cooking spurred

her to continue pursuing an education, and we’re proud to announce as of the

summer of 2019, she has secured her diploma from culinary school!

We’re so proud of Lena for her persistence and courage!

Sasha - 14 years old

I am here because my father died in a car accident and my mother died from cancer

two years later. I miss my mother and father every day. I was so lonely and had no

hope until a group of volunteers began to come to our orphan house to see us. Irina

is my favorite friend now. She tells me that it is sad that my family is gone, but I can

still have a future if I am not lazy with my studies. She even comes with others to see

us and has special activities for us to do. My loneliness is better and I still cry in bed

some nights but I am glad I am doing the right things now to prepare for my future. I

think my mom would be happy.

In our present capacity, Allies in Youth Development does an impressive job of providing services to a large

number of orphans... but for every child we serve, there are thousands of others who could benefit from our

support. Every year, thousands of orphans age out of the system with no support and end up living on the

streets or taken by human traffickers. There is a way out for these children, but there is a profound need to train

the people there. With Allies’ 3-Year Plan, the organization is poised to have a greater capacity to serve orphans

and train volunteers in Russia, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and across the globe.

Camp Vertikal is a unique summer camp Nestled in the Caucasus Mountains, held and run by one of our vol-unteer leaders. The theme promotes a positive message: “Moving forward and upwards, in spite of difficulties or temptations.” Last year, Camp Vertikal hosted 5 summer camps throughout July and August. Over 600 youth from the Adygea region, including orphans, attended these camps which led to more than 300 youth making the decision to follow Christ.

30 plus area leaders from all over the world will attend our annual leadership conference in

Moscow to share their individual programs and ideas. The purpose is to discuss current practices and

programming that created positive outcomes for the orphans in the Allies Mentoring Program (AMP) and

provide new ideas and training. The conference recognizes and affirms the leaders who have changed an

orphan’s life trajectory. It helps build camaraderie and gives leaders a network of resources to call upon if

they need assistance. Leaders leave our summit with fresh ideas and renewed energy for their own indivi

dually led programs in their respective areas. The total estimated cost is $25,000.

Greater Expectations 15

I strongly support the work of Allies in Youth Development. My wife and

I know firsthand the struggles that orphans face in Russia and Eastern

Europe. You see, we have adopted four boys from Russian orphanages.

Russian and Eastern European orphans are the prime target for human

traffickers. As Allies works to save orphans in these areas, not only are

these youngsters given the opportunity for an abundant life, they are no

longer susceptible to traffickers. As your sheriff, it is also my responsibility

to make sure our citizens are safe.

One of the threats we face in Texas is increasing crime due to human

trafficking. As the work of Allies puts more and more children on the road

to success, it also decreases the flow of trafficked children and young

adults to Texas. This is good for Texas. This is good for all of us.

I hope you will join me in my family’s support for such

an important organization.
