Shear Load Connectors
DSDThe DSD is the original two-part, double dowel, shear loadconnector. The dowel component can move longitudinallywithin the sleeve to accommodate movement.
DSDQThe DSDQ shear load connector uses the same dowelcomponent as the DSD, but the cylindrical sleeve is containedwithin a rectangular box section to allow lateral movement inaddition to the longitudinal movement.
ESDThis single dowel shear connector is available in three sizeswith each size available in two lengths. ESD shear connectorsare used where the slab or wall is too thin for DSD, andwhere loads are small.
ESDQThe ESDQ shear load connector uses the same dowel as theESD, but the cylindrical sleeve is contained within arectangular box section to allow lateral movement in additionto longitudinal movement.
Dowel Bar CradlesDowel Bar Cradles are used to support dowel bars incontraction and expansion joints. When ordering pleaseconfirm type, height (which is from base of cage to bottomof dowel bar) and quantity required. Manufactured tocustomer requirements. Sold per metre.

ESDQ-L20 Lockable DowelESDQ-L20 Lockable DowelThe ESDQ-L Lockable Dowel uses the samesleeve as the ESDQ. It allows initialmovement to take place and then, after apredetermined time period is locked with atwo-part epoxy resin poured into the L-shaped grout box.
Shear Load ConnectorsAncon shear connectors offer significant advantages overconventional single dowels. The two-part construction meansthat the sleeve component can be simply nailed to theformwork, drilling or either formwork or concrete is notrequired. The dowel unit can then be inserted into the sleeve. The engineered nature of the two components ensuresalignment, vital where movement is required.

Tieplug CementA specially developed cement for plugging and waterproofing tie holes in concrete walls, becoming waterproof within hours and withstanding a hydrostatic pressure of 10 bar afterfull curing. Water Council approved. Trowel applied. Coverage approximately 220 holes per8kg tub.
TiefillFor the filling of tie-holes formed by formwork bolts in newconstruction, particularly where a rapid setting, durable, waterproof mortar is required. Tiefill is a single component, polymer modified, fibre reinforced, Portland cement basedrepair compound, which exhibits unique hydraulic propertiesto produce a rapid curing mortar with enhanced polymerproperties. It only requires the addition of clean water to givea rapid setting, yet durable high strength mortar and isideally suited for the filling of voids particularly in new construction which need to be rapidlyput into service, such as tie-holes, grout holes and voids around fixings. For the treatment oftie-holes formed by through-ties, any remaining plastic tube should be cut back andremoved to approximately 40-50mm from the concrete face. To eliminate the possibility ofwater tracking around the plastic tube, it should be plugged with cork or a proprietarystopper. Tiefill is a WRAS approved product confirming suitability for use in contact withpotable water and it is CE Marked in compliance with EN 1504-3 Class R4.

Expamet Hy-Rib® is an expanded metal sheet product, specifically developed for use as permanent formwork toconcrete. The profile of the open mesh, in combination withthe Hy-Rib tangs, allow the development of dense concretenodules and indents on the face of the Hy-Rib, forming anenhanced mechanical key for the second phase pour. In thecase of visible elements, the resulting Hy-Rib surface issuitable to receive a rendered or tiled finish.Hy-Rib is primarily used in construction joint applications butit is also used to form wall, beam & column surfaces andslabs soffits, where the formed surface will not be seen.
For over 80 years Hy-Rib has been successfully used aspermanent formwork on innumerable building &infrastructure projects, throughout the world.
Hy-Rib has an enviable portfolio of technical data.Independent bodies have undertaken full scale testingprogrammes to determine and verify Hy-Rib’s effectiveness informing construction joints. The result is a product with welldefined engineering properties, established formworkpressure characteristics and measured improvements to thejoint performance. Hy-Rib is certified for use as permanentformwork by the British Board of Agrément (BBA). See tablebelow;

Reinforcement Continuity Systems
Eazistrip Continuity SystemEazistrip Reinforcement Continuity Systems aredesigned to maintain continuity of reinforcement atconstruction joints in concrete. Formwork design issimplified and there is no need to drill shuttering. Each unit consists of a galvanised steel casing whichis dimpled to provide an effective concrete bond.Pre-bent bars are housed within the box and aresecured by a protective cover. When the cover isremoved the bars can be straightened ready forlapping onto the main reinforcement. Bars must bestraightened only once, using an Eazistrip re-bendingtool.When the potential for water ingress through theconstruction joint is a major concern, Eazistrip canbe supplied with a Pentaflex hydrostatic seal whichprovides protection against moisture permeationalong the joint face.
Eazistrip Reinforcement Continuity systems are CARES approved. The grade ofreinforcing bar used is Grade 500B, minimum yield 500N/mm2, minimum uniformelongation Agt 5%. The bars are bent in accordance with BS8666.

MBT CouplersThe MBT range of couplers provides a cost-effective methodof joining reinforcing bars, particularly when the fixed bar isalready in place. They are easy to install and achieve failureloads higher than 115% of the characteristic yield strength ofgrade 500 reinforcing bar. Neither bar end preparation toform threads, nor bar rotation are required. MBT couplers canalso be used to join imperial, plain round or deformedreinforcing bars.
When the pre-determined tightening torque for the bolts isreached, the heads shear off leaving the top of the installedbolt slightly proud of the coupler. This provides an instantvisual check of correct installation.
MBT ET SeriesET series couplers are used to connect reinforcing bars of thesame diameter. They can be used when neither bar can berotated and are available in sizes 10mm to 40mm.

MBT Headed Anchors MBT Headed Anchors are designed to provide dead endembedment for bars in concrete. This helps to reducecongestion and simplify the placement of rebars by removingthe need for hooked ends. The anchor comprises half anMBT coupler with a plate welded to one end which carriesthe full tension load of the bar when it isbearing against the concrete. TheMBT Headed Anchor also has theadded advantage of requiring nospecial bar end preparation.
System BenefitsAncon Isolan connectors use conventional reinforcing bars(grade 500B to BS4449: 2005) to provide the tension andcompression reinforcement. When compared to systemswhere this reinforcement is an integral component, theAncon Isolan solution can provide substantial cost savingsand simplify specification, scheduling, transportation, handling and installation.
MV SystemThe Ancon Isolan MV system is used for the transfer ofmoment and shear forces in cantilevered balconies.
V SystemThe Ancon Isolan V system is used for the transfer of shearforces in simply supported balconies.
Insulated and Reinforced Balcony Connectors
Ancon Isolan
Ancon IsolanThe Ancon Isolan system joins external concrete balconies tointernal concrete floor slabs. It provides continuity to both thereinforcement and the thermal insulation of the wallprotecting the building against the effects of cold bridging.Standard systems, comprising rigid CFC-free polystyreneinsulation and stainless steel shear reinforcement, areavailable in five heights to suit different slab depths.Conventional reinforcing bars (supplied by others) provide thetension and compression reinforcement.
Design InformationDesign graphs are used to select the most appropriate Isolanelement, and the diameters of the shear, tension andcompression reinforcement.

Ancon ShearfixAncon Shearfix is used within a slab to provide additionalreinforcement around a column head or base. The systemcomprises double-headed studs welded to flat rails. Studs are manufactured from high strength steel bar in sixdiameters and in lengths to suit the depth of slab. Shearfixrails are manufactured from strips of steel, 16mm wide. The quantity of studs and rails, their dimensions andspacings, and the layout pattern around the column isdetermined by calculation.

Frost BlanketsApplication: Laying concrete at temperatures below 5ºCgenerally requires special precautions (such as specialconcrete additives, heating devices, hot vapour equipmentetc.). An easy and inexpensive solution is the use of FrostBlankets. The thermal insulation effect of the Frost Blanketsignificantly reduces the loss of natural concrete hydrationheat and thereby keeps the concrete warm long enough for asafe curing.
BenefitsConcrete laying in summer and winter season. Thecombination of their excellent thermal insulationperformance, their negligible water absorption and theirflexibility make Frost Blankets ideal for improved concretecuring.
