WCO Revised Kyoto Convention• Chapter 7 of RKC specifically addresses “applications of ICT”:

• 7.1. Standard: Customs shall apply information technology

• 7.2. Standard:

Customs shall use relevant internationally accepted standards

• 7.3. Standard:

introduction of information technology in consultation with all relevant parties

• 7.4. Standard:

new or revised national legislation shall provide for:» electronic commerce methods as an alternative to paper-based documentary requirements;» electronic as well as paper-based authentication methods;» the right of the Customs to retain information for their own use and, as appropriate, to exchange

such information with other Customs administrations and all other legally approved parties by means of electronic commerce techniques.

S: Information systems used by the Member have been checked for conformance. Tables showing conformance with the WCO Data Model have been shared with the WCO Secretariat

P: Projects involving the use of the WCO Data Model are underway or have been completed.

M: Mappings of data elements of national information systems with the WCO Data Model have been produced and (in some cases) shared with the WCO Secretariat.
