Antarctic ice shelves are melting at an accelerating rate

2Pritchard et al, 2012; Paolo et al, 2015; Rignot et al, 2011.

Oceanic currents tend to follow depth contours, i.e. warm water flows ALONG the continental slope

- so how does the warm water get onto the continental shelf and into the ice shelf cavities??
