History&Context
St.PiusSchoolhasbeenpreparingyoungstudentstobecomeCatholic leaders inthecommunityforover60years.Foundedby MonsignorMichaelFitzsimonin
1953,St.PiusSchool isaparishschool,primarilyservingthecommunityofSt.PiusChurch,andwelcomingall familieswhodesireaCatholiceducationfor their
children.
St.PiusSchoolprovidesahighqualityeducationinalovingenvironment.Administrators,faculty,andstaffworkinpartnershipwiththeprimaryeducatorsofthe
children,theirparents,toensurethebestexperienceforeachstudent. ParentssendtheirchildrentoSt.PiusSchoolbecauseit isasupportivecommunitythat
teachesandexpectsrespectofeveryone.Administrators,faculty,andstaffwantthechildrenintheircaretofeelsafeandspecial.
St.PiusSchoolhasbeenblessedwithmuchsuccessandisintheenviablepositionofplanningfromapositionofstrength.WhilemanyCatholicschoolsacrossthe
countryareexperiencingdecliningenrollmentsandclosures,St.PiusSchoolcontinuestoflourish.FatherPaulRossi,thepastor,isastrongandcommittedadvocate
ofCatholicschools.RitaCarroll, the long-termprincipal, isagiftedandrespected leader. Theschoolhasastablegroupofdedicated,credentialedteachersand
capable staff. Over the years, the academic and enrichment programs have grown significantly; the school has kept pacewith technological and pedagogical
changes. Throughagenerousendowment fund, significantcommunity investment in fundraising,andprudent financialmanagement, tuitionhas remained low
enoughtoattractawiderangeoffamiliesandmaintainclosetofullenrollment. Infact,St.PiusSchool’stuitionisthemostaffordablerelativetootherCatholic
schoolsinthesurroundingarea.Familiesareactivelyinvolvedinthelifeoftheschoolandmanyareengagedintheparish.St.PiusSchoolisfullyaccreditedbythe
WesternCatholicEducationalAssociation(WCEA)andtheWesternAssociationofSchoolsandColleges(WASC).
In 2012, St. Pius School developed a three-year strategic plan to leverage opportunities in the areas of Catholic Identity, Academics, Finances, Marketing,
CommunicationandCommunityEngagement,andFacilities.InadditiontoaddressingSt.PiusSchool'sstrategicplanningneeds,the2012StrategicPlanresultedin
thecreationofapreschoolfortheparish.BuildingOurFutureTogetherIIbuildsontheschool'scurrentthree-yearstrategicplanandisintendedtofullyintegrate
withtheParish'sfive-yearPastoralPlan.
Process
InJanuary2016,PrincipalRitaCarrollandPastorFr.PaulRossiformallyre-initiatedstrategyplanningforSt.PiusSchool,withtheintentofbuildingontherecent
WCEA/WASCaccreditationprocessand thePastoralPlanningprocess. Theplanningeffortswereguidedbya small Strategic LeadershipTeamthatconsistedof
diverse representatives fromtheparishandschoolcommunities. TheStrategicLeadership teamconvenedregularlyoveraperiodof sixmonths, to reviewand
analyzedata,shareperspectives,provideadviceandcounsel,anddevelopstrategicplanningrecommendationsthatwouldbeultimatelyreviewedandapprovedby
FatherRossiandRitaCarroll.

Consistentwiththe2012strategicplanningprocess,therewasadesireforthestrategicplanningprocesstobeinclusive,andtoengagetheentireSt.PiusSchool
and Parish Community in generating ideas. The St. Pius School and Parish Community directly contributed to this strategic plan by sharing their ideas and
