Check the ground is suitable for mobiling and operating the EWP before you set up. Ground conditions will affect the use of outriggers and the need for packing. Mobile plant will be less stable moving across rough, uneven or backfilled ground.

If it has recently rained, the ground may be soft and unsuitable for heavy vehicles and machinery.

If you think the ground is too soft or waterlogged ask an expert to assess the ground conditions before the EWP is set up.

Locks and BrakesLocks and Brakes

Apply any motion locks or brakes to stop the EWP boom slewing or moving around while you are travelling.

There may be locks or tie down straps to hold the boom in place to make it safe for travel.

Always check the operators manual for any specific instruction on lowering, securing and stowing the boom and associated equipment.
