WHERE IS AUSTRALIA?
AUSTRALIA IS located to the southern hemisphere including the mainland of the Australian continent, the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands in the Southern Pacific and Indian Oceans.

AYERS ROCK (ULURU)
It is considered the largest solitary rock on the planet.
Its surface is made of red sandstone.
It is a holy place and called Uluru by the aboriginal peoples.
It is 348 metres high.
The Bluff Knoll
It is a peak in the Stirling Range in the south-west of Western Australia.
It is 1,099 metres above sea level.
It is one of only a few places to have regular snowfalls in Western Australia, with some snow reported in most years.
Great Barrier Reef
It is the worlds largest coral reef.
The reef is located in the Coral Sea, next to the coast of Queensland in north-east Australia.
The Great Barrier Reef can be seen from outer space and is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms.

The Murray River is Australia's longest river.
The source of the Murray is in the Australian Alps.
It flows trough the western side of Australia's highest mountains and meanders across Australia's plains.
Finally, it turns south for its final 500 kilometres.
It reaches the ocean at Lake Alexandrina.

Lake Eyre is the lowest point in Australia, at approximately 15m below sea level.
On the exceptional circumstances, when it rains and the lake has water, it is the largest lake of Australia.

LAKE ALBERT:
It is a fresh water lake near the mouth of the Murray river.
Its water comes from Lake Alexandrina.
It is separate on the South by the Narrung Peninsula.
The Lake Albert is much more salty than the Lake Alexandrina. LOCALIZATION: South Australia.

THE CLIMATE IN AUSTRALIA
The climate of Australia varies, but the largest part of the Australia is desert or semi-arid
40% of the landmass is covered by sand dunes.
Only the south-east and south-west corners have a temperate climate.

CROCOITE (DESCRIPTION): this is a spectacular gorgeous large crocoite specimen from the famous red land mine in Tasmania.
USED FOR: chemical analyses of the environment to measure the demand of oxygen.

MANGANO CALCITE (DESCRIPTION): it is a chemical variety of the calcite that possesses small contents of magnesium and forms a series together with rodrocosita.
USED FOR: it can be used in the metallurgic industries and chemical activities
