1 General
This technical specification shall act as a minimum requirement for the transformer to be deliv-ered.
All transformers and their accessories have to be in accordance with the EN, IEC rules and reg-ulations valid at the time of manufacturing. The design must be well proven and shall include thenewest state of art. Restrictions regarding material and sub-supplier have to be considered.
In case of change of the original quality, guarantied by the supplier, in the level of sub suppliersthe purchaser keeps the rights to check the sub-suppliers quality (i.e. coolers, tap change, tank,monitoring devices, bushings etc.).
2 Site conditions
Refer to contract documents:

3 Ratings
Manufacturer shall indicate the base rating of the transformer for operation in an ambient of 40°Cand furnish the de-rating factors for equipment rating for different ambient temperatures.
3.1 System variation
Transformer shall be capable of continuous operation at maximum kVA rating and within limit oftemperature rise at system continuous deviation of up to and including the following percentage
of the rated system:
- Voltage: ± 10%
- Frequency: ± 5%
3.2 Vector Group
Vector group is specified as Dyn11.
3.3 Noise Level
The noise power level (LWA) produced by transformer operating at rated voltage and frequencyat either no load or full load shall be below 63 dB(A).
4 Construction Requirements
4.1 Internal Arrangement
Transformer core shall be of robust design adequately braced to prevent displacement due toelectromagnetic stresses of short circuit, and the mechanical shocks of normal moving and han-dling of the transformer without any need for special shipping braces.

4.2 Enclosure
Minimum degree of protection for dry type CAST-COIL transformer shall be IP31 for indoor instal-lation.
4.3 Windings
Transformer shall have separate low and medium voltage windings. Material for the winding con-ductor shall be following:
- Primary winding conductor material Al
- Secondary winding conductor material Al
- Winding manufacturing (MV/LV) Encapsulated / Impregnated
The MV winding shall have tapping at ± 2.5% and ± 5.0% of the rated MV voltage.
The winding coils shall be adequately braced to prevent distortion of the windings or movement ofthe coils on the core limbs under short circuit condition or normal moving and handling of thetransformer.
Winding manufacturing shall be as specified in chapter 7.
4.4 Insulation Level
The rated short duration power frequency withstands voltage and rated lighting impulse with-stands voltage shall be as follows:
- Primary insulation level kV LI 125 / AC 50 / Um 24
- Secondary insulation level kV LI - / AC 3 / Um 1.1
4.5 Terminals
To provide a 4-wire system, the low voltage starpoint connections shall be brought out on a sepa-rate terminal.
Terminals shall be marked in accordance with the connection diagram marked on the rating plate.
The stems and bushing of the terminals shall be sealed in leakproof manner into the tank wall or
cover, rotations of terminal stems shall be prevented by effective locking.
Transformer shall be provided with external earthing terminals.
4.6 Cooling
The transformer shall be natural air-cooled (AN).

4.7 Cable Boxes
Cable entries into the box shall be located such that conductors can be clamped straight into the
terminal connectors without being bent into tortuous shapes inside the box.
MV and LV cable entry shall be from the bottom side.
Cable boxes for PVC or XLPE insulated cables shall be dry type. Single core type cables shall beglanded to non-magnetic plates.
4.8 Winding Temperature detectors
The temperature of LV winding shall be monitored with embedded temperature detectors (Pt100RTD) located at or close to the design hot-spots for each phase.
4.9 Off-Load Tap Changer
Tap changing on the MV winding shall be done by externally hand operated off-load tap changingswitch. The switch shall preferably satisfy the following requirements:
- The switch shall be operable by its handle without the need of additional tool and withoutrisk to personnel safety
- The contact changing shall be positive snap action arranged so that it is impossible for thecontacts to be left in a position where the circuits remains interrupted
- The stops shall be robust type to prevent overrunning
- Padlocking of the switch shall be provided
- Tap positions shall be clearly marked
- The driving rod through the tank cover or wall shall be sealed to prevent leakage of air,gas or liquid under all service conditions
4.10 Fittings and Accessories
The following shall be provided as a minimum:
- Winding temperature sensor (Pt-100) per phase
- T-154 temperature control unit
- Lifting lugs for lifting the entire transformer
- Skid under base with bi-directional rollers
- Rating plate & KKS tag number plate
- Pulling eyes
- Arc protection relay

4.11 Bushings and Insulators
The bushings and insulators shall be rated for maximum system voltage and comply with re-quirements of IEC. Neutral bushings to be provided for earthing the neutral. All bushing shall bemarked with symbols as per rating plate and connection diagram.
Bushings and insulators shall be of a high quality, high-strength material capable of withstandingrough handling during transport, erection or maintenance.
4.12 Painting
Painting should be carefully selected based on the local conditions (ANNEX-General-Site-Conditions). Minimum thickness 70µm is required. The colour shall be RAL 7035.
4.13 Rating plates
The rating plate shall give the following information’s:
- The international specification to which transformer conform to
- Vector group and winding connection
- Percentage tapping positions of rated voltage
- Rated MV voltage at zero tapping
- Rated LV voltages at no load and full load at above conditions
- Rated ambient temperature
- Rated kVA
- Rated full load current and short circuit current withstand for 3 seconds
- Impedance voltage
- Enclosure class
- Insulation Levels
- Cooling system
- Efficiency at full load
- Lifting weight
- Transformer type, make, serial number, year of manufacture and PO number

5 Testing
The transformer shall be tested by the manufacturer to the requirements of the specified interna-tional standards.
5.1 Routine Tests
Transformer shall be subjected to the following routine tests:
- Measurement of winding resistance; on all taps
- Measurement of voltage ratio on all taps and check of voltage vector relationship
- Measurement of impedance voltage (at zero tapping), short circuit impedance and loadloss
- Measurement of no-load loss and current
- Separate source voltage withstand test
- Induced over voltage withstand test
- Partial discharges measurement
- The insulation resistance of each winding in turn to all other windings, core and frame ortank connected to earth shall be measured and recorded. The coil and winding tempera-tures shall be measured immediately prior to the test and be recorder
If required, all tests to be witnessed by Owner/Customer.
5.2 Type Test
Type test certificate shall be provided.

The following shall be provided by the manufacturer:
- Foundation fixing arrangement drawing
- General arrangement drawing / Overall dimensional drawing- Rating plate drawing
- Connection/ terminal diagram
- O&M Manual
- Transport / lifting instructions
- Completed equipment data sheets
- Installation instructions
- Operating instructions
- Inspection and test plan
