IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL PARENTS “We all have the right to feel safe- All the time”

Students with Anaphylaxis/Severe Allergic Reaction

to certain food substances or food

At this school there are children who are allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and eggs. Contact with these foods could cause Anaphylaxis. Two of the hardest things for a parent of a child with Anaphylaxis to do are:

1. Send the child off to school and try to have them as normal as possible. 2. Getting other people to believe how real and fatal this allergy can be.

What is Anaphylaxis?

Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of an allergic reaction and CAN BE FATAL An allergic reaction can vary from mild to moderate symptoms including:

Swelling of lips, face and eyes

Hives or welts

Abdominal pain and vomiting To a severe allergic reaction or ANAPHYLAXIS which may present itself with one or more of the following symptoms:

Difficulty/ noisy breathing

Swelling of the tongue

Swelling/ tightness in throat

Difficulty talking/ hoarse voice

Wheeze or persistent cough

Loss of consciousness and/ or collapse

Pale and floppy (young children)

Anaphylaxis is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment. What you can do to help:

Wherever possible, please refrain from bringing foods that may contain these allergens in as even the smallest exposure can cause a reaction.

Make sure your child’s hands and face are washed.

Discourage your child from sharing their food with other children while at school. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you for understanding and for supporting these families. Additional information can be found at: www.allergy.org.au and www.allergyfacts.org

On Saturday 11th of October our two HPV teams went to Casey Fields to race in our new Human Powered Vehicles. 16 grade 6 riders and our 2 mechanics went to Casey Fields at 8:45am. Jacob and Jarrod were the first riders on the day and got both our HPVs to a terrific start. Everyone had 30min riding in the HPVs and then came into the pits to stop and change riders. We all tried our hardest and ended up coming 10th & 11th in our division. A big thank you to all the teachers and parents that were involved, we couldn’t have participated without your help and support.

Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago when humans did not exist. When dinosaurs were

here, some were tiny and some were humungous. Some dinosaurs were carnivores and

some were herbivores. Dinosaurs are reptiles. When the dinosaurs were extinct the

fossils were under the ground. I wish dinosaurs were still alive.

DINOSAURS

Some dinosaurs can fly, some cannot fly. The dinosaurs that can

fly are called Pterodactyls and Pteranodons. Some eat other

dinosaurs, some eat plants. Some dinosaurs are humungous,

some are tiny. Some are large and some are larger.
