Holiday

Last holiday, my friendsand I went on a trip at Ulu Yam Waterfall.We gathered

at thebus station early in the morning. The journey there took an hour and half. It

was our first trip together

Eeryone was so e!"ited with this trip. We brought the sna"ks and drinks from home.

Upon arriing there we we#re captivatedby the s"eni" iew of hills and forests. The

beautiful sceneryimpressed me. The "hirping of birdsand the sound of the waterfall

made me feel inatpea"e. Ulu $yam Waterfall was famous for its beautiful re"reation

park among tourists.

We do many things there. We hiked the hills, swamat the waterfalls and many more.

$s we swam at the waterfall, suddenly therain started pouring. We ran to find a safe

shelter. Itwasfunny and fun to see a few of my friends runningandtrying to sae the

foods that had been wet be"ause of the rain. %..the food was wet because of the

rain.)

$fter a few minutes, the rain stoppedpouring. We had a small barbe"ue near the

waterfalls. We rested for a while after eating. &efore we went home ,we hiked up the

hills. We found many uni'ue floralike a wild or"hid. We went home in the eening.

We feltreally sad leaing the Ulu $yam Waterfall. While in the bus, we agreed to "ome

again there. $lthough it was tiring, it was a pre"ious and fun trip.

Last (aturday, my friends and I went for a trip to the )ational *ark. The trip was

organi+ed by $bu &akar. We went there by bus. The journey took about - hours. We

"hose )ational *ark be"ause we wantedto get away for a few days after a stressful week

that time, we knew the rang $sli hae aried o""upations and ways of life.

The ne!t a"tiity was "ae e!ploring. The "ae was ery dark but lu"kily we brought

tor"hlight to e!plore what was in there. While we were walking, we saw a population of

batshanging upside down. The superisor in "harge told us that the bats were sleeping.

They sleepduring the day and find food at night. We wereall spellbound on how they

slept without falling. $fter a while, we found a waterfall. Wemadehay while the sun

shines by takinga dip in the waterfall. It was breathtaking with a beautiful s"enery. The

water was "ool and "rystal "lear. There were birds "hirping merrily.We all splashed water

at ea"h other and shrieked as the i"y water stungbare skin. It was definitely a relief

from thestress from the intense weather and e!hausted day. /ow "ould we resist su"h a

great temptation0 We saw a lot of fish swimmingaround full of life.We "aughtthe fishfor haingbarbe'ue at night. We de"ided to wrap our day as the

sun started to disappear.

The ne!t morning, we went for jungle trekking. This a"tiity not only gae the rush of

adrenaline but also built our stamina. $ll of us were fas"inated at seeing the wild

animals, plants and ri"h biodiersity found in 1alaysia. The flora and fauna were ery

beautiful and "olourful. 1y friend, (hasnaa,s"reamed as she saw a huge millipede. We

all burst into tears. We took photographs of this uni'ue e!perien"e. It was "ooland

refreshing to be in the egetation. The fresh air that surrounds the area was good for us

to re"oer from thehustle and bustle of the"ity of life. It is a pity thisegetation isfa"ing greater danger of being atlost to deelopment. 1any people do not

reali+e that it is a real gem in the jungle. We returned to the "halet as

the darknessstarted to roll in. Thank god we had the "han"e to e!plore the jungle.

n the last day, we woke up early and pa"ked our things to go home. $ll of us "raed

to go for another trip as soon as possible.

There are also food stalls by the bea"h. The stalls are "lean. The food is "heap and the

pri"e is reasonable to the tourists. &esides, the sellers sell arious types of s"rumptious

food su"h as appeti+ing fro+en food, fresh tempting fruit and soft drinks. The sellers are

ery friendly and kind. They wear neat "lothes and gloes to make sure that the tourists

are satisfied with their seri"e.

There are a lot of a"tiities that my family and I "an do at 8inga Island. We "an enjoy

the beautiful island together to strengthen our bonds. We "an do many a"tiities

A Holiday I Would Never ForgetHolidays, a time everyone gets hyped up over, parents planning activities for the

family to spend quality time with and school children ( as well as teachers) jumpingfor joy. Hello, waking up late, celebrating, goin for tuition and best of all, vacations! nmyy case, a holiday would never forget is a fruitful one epereinced five yearsago, where my family spent si days in the land of "#$op and % kimchi %# "orea.

&inally, after ages of waiting, our family arrived in beautiful "orea. 'tepping outof the plane, we could feel the chilly weather to our bones. ever eperiencing thatkind of weather, my siblings and were totally ecited. $assing through immigrationand baggage claim, we were talking animatedly about our new surroundings. 'incewe went with tour group, we knew we were in good hands.

ncident number one. e were supposed to take a bus to check in at the hotel,as instructed. guessed was overeager and without thinking. ran to a random busand knocked on the door. *he young bus driver opened the door and looked at mewith a pu++led epression. He started asking me something in "orean, which ofcourse did not understand. tried to reply in nglish, but before could make theattempt, my father quickly apologi+ed to the driver and walked me back to the tourgroup who was watching from afar, shaking with laughter. t turned out that the bus was running to was not the bus we were supposed to take. dismissed my burningcheeks. was glad could be the butt of everyone%s jokes on my first day in a foreigncountry.

t was a bit past lunch time when we were done checking in our hotel. otdoubt, everybody%s stomachs were grumbling. *hank -od after checking in, we weregoing to have our lunch and do a bit of sightseeing. hile waiting for the othersoutside the hotel, we walked around nearby. *here was a row of vending machinesthat sold various snacks and beverages, including Haagen a+s ice#cream , andinstant noodles. /y mother had a craving for escafe, so she spent her first "orreanmoney on that.

0t the restaurant, a delicious meal was already spread out for us. *hat was the

first time we all tried kimchi, a spicy and sour vegetable side dish. did not think itwas horrible, buut preferred the fish kimchi much better. e all ate using

chopsticks, so that was kind or awkward for me and my siblings, as we were notskilled at using them yet. 1eing /alaysians, we were used to rice, so it was a goodthing that the "orean meal included rice and a few other side dish, eaten from a1ento bo. t was weird though, the rice was stickier compared to the rice we eat athome, mainly to make it easier to eat using chopsticks. *here was also hot and

scumptious miso soup together with the meal. 'ince my sister and my brother didnot like it much, finshed up theirs. gulped the warm soup down my throat# a niceconnntrast from the shivering weather outside.

2ne of the highlights of our activities that we did in "orea was skiling.verybody from the tour group was looking forward to that, even the 34#year oldcouple traveling with us. 'ince it was%nt fully snownig yet, the hill was coverred withartificial snow. 0fter grobbing our ski gear, we listen to a briefing by the instructor. Hewas very help ful, especially with us kids annd the elderly couple.

&eeling jumpy and hyperactive, me and my sister made our way to the cable

car and successfully skied down a slope. thought, 5 e%re natural at this,5 and mysister could not agree more. hen we came to see how our parents and brotherwere doing, my brother started to throw a snowball towards me and my sister. t hitme, and we started having a small snowball fight of our own, just like in the movies! guessed we got a bit out of hand and my sister accidentally hit a woman%s back.when she turned around, she had this angry look on her face and started to walktowards us. hurried my siblings to continue skiing with our parents,and we ran awaybefore she cold catch us. 1reathless, we giggled innaivety as we recapped themoment.

n a way, skiing is like swimming. hy do say so6 ell, when swimming ,youdo not feel tired , but you would see the effect when you get ravenous and eat moreafter a session or when you aintend to tke a nap, but it is etended to long hours.*he same goes to skiing. hen we arrived at the hotel after skiing, we were drainedout and starving. nstant noodles saved the day! e all ate curry#flavoured /aggitogether, savouring the memontary pleasure. e also do+ed off quite early that night, right after going for a walk to enjoy the ama+ing night view of th mountains, andbreathing the cool, fresh winter air.

'hopping in "orea was also different compared to /alaysia. ts malls werepacked with small shops or stalla on every floor. 1ig boutiques were not seen as

much as the quaint kiosks. evertheless, found shopping at their markets moreenjoyable, especially because you could haggle the price. *heir specialities werecrystals, fabrics and outerwear. 0part form that, also liked their wet markets , mainlybecause they were very clean and they did not have that fishy smell. remembered ashocking incident when walking through the stalls of the wet market. 0 large fishjumped out its aquarium and onto the floor. stared at it and suddenly, saw a hugecutting knife slicing through the fish%s neck! t was the owner of the stall%s doing.*hen, the owner left the fish flapping around lifelessly without a head.

*here was also a treasure trove among the stalls of the wet market# a tinyshoop which served grilled seafood. /y family stepped into the shop and ordered

some grilled fish and cockles.

0fter saying our prayers, we devoured our mouth#watering find of the day.ripped in a type of souce, the seafood was the best had ever eaten, as you couldtaste the freshness. 2r maybe was just hungry after a full day of activities.

Well, the reason I am writing this letter is to tell you on my experience at Pulau

Langkawi. Recently, the Nature Clu o! my school organised a "#day trip to Pulau

Langkawi. $here were %& o! us, accompanied y " teachers. $he aim o! this trip

is to instil awareness and lo'e o! nature. When my teacher told me that I wasselected !or the trip, I (umped at the chance. )or me, it was once in a lue moon

opportunity to escape the hustle and ustle o! the city and en(oy the peace and

as quick as lightning, reeled the fishing line in. Eaju burst out laughing as it was merely a

small fish.

early in the morning and reahed our ampsitein Hutan 'ipur, %ahang around noon. &henwe arrived, we followed a narrow trailleading into the jungle. &e wanted to loo# for a good

spotto set up amp. Finally, wepithedour tent near a waterfall.

After oo#ing our first meal, %eter suggested that we e(plored the jungle. )o we

armedourselves with several bottles of mineral water, a small pen#nife and a torhlight. &e

were ama*edat the various flora and fauna found. However, after a few hours, we reali*ed

that we had lost our way. &e had also finished the last few drops of our mineral water. &e

were now feeling e(hausted. Fortunately, we ame upon a ave. &e deided toput up a night

there as it was getting dar#.

+he ne(t morning, we were eagerto find our way ba#. )o we set out to determinethe

diretion of the rising sun and went westward. After wal#ing for about two hours, we ame to

the wayto their village. &e were given some food and drin#s, and after that we rested.+he following morning, the village headman too# us to the polie station to ma#e a

report. &e ould not wait to headhome. &e were tired but relieved our ordealin the jungle

was over.

A Trip To Tail Island

uring the last holidays, the ature "lub of )/0 %arit esar went on a trip. &e

deided to spend a few days on +ail $sland. 1ur aim was to rest and rela(after so muh of

hard wor# and studying for the %/R e(amination. &e were very e(ited.

1n the first day, we too# a ferry and reahed the southern tipof the island early in the

morning. +he boatman was #indenough to diret us to andar +ail. &hen we reahed andar+ail, we had a good brea#fastof 2teh tari#3 and 2nasi lema#3. +he people there were helpful.

+hey told us about the interestingplaes to visit.

After brea#fast, we travelled along the eastern sideof the island and ame to a lovely

streth of white sandy beah. &e swam in the rystal learwater. &e saw beautiful orals and

fish in the deep bluesea. At 4.55 p.m. we ontinued ourjourney. &e had to ross a river by

boat. %a# Abu, the boatman who ferriedus here in the morning, too# us aross the river. y

the time we reahed 0ampung Utara, it was already dar#.&e deided to amp outfor the

night. +hat night, we slept li#e logsfor we were e(tremely tired after suh a long day.

+he ne(t morning, we headedfor a bay where we ould wath turtles oming to shore

to lay eggs. &e had topassa river to get there. &hen we reahed there, a wildlife offiertold

us that turtles only ome to shore to lay eggs during the night. )o we stayed upthat night. $t

seemed li#e a very long wait but our patiene was rewarded. &athing turtles laying eggs

was indeed an interesting e(periene6

+he ne(t day, we e(ploredsome aves in the hills. +he stalatites and stalagmites

were very unusual formations. Again, we amped out under the lear, star-filleds#y.

+he following day, before dawn, we pa#ed and trudgedalong to andar +ail where

%a# Abu rowed us ba# to the mainland. $t had ertainly been an adventurousholiday.
