GRADES
DC and AP students will have the exact #of grades and assignments
DC students will take a final exam (usually the 1st or 2nd week in December)
This grade will not count toward the Tomball Memorial High School
grade but will count toward the Lone Star College grade. On the day
that the DC students will be taking their final exam, the AP students
will be taking an AP practice exam that will not count as a grade.
Lone Star College grades will be calculated as follows:
1st 9 weeks TMHS grade
+
2nd 9 weeks TMHS grade (at the point of grade deadline to college)
+
Lone Star College Final Exam (taken the first part of December)
These three grades will be averaged together and be the Lone Star College course grade.
Tomball Memorial High School grades will be calculated exactly as the grades
will be calculated for AP students. Both AP and DC students will be required to take the same final exam on the designated TMHS final exam scheduled date. All AP and DC students will complete the same major and daily assignments for the TMHS grade.
It is not unusual for the Lone Star College grade to he higher than the TMHS
grade. This can happen due to the Lone Star College final exam grade that is
only calculated into the Lone Star College grade and not the TMHS grade.
A WORD OF CAUTION
DC students and their parents need to be aware that the Lone Star College
grade will forever be on their college transcript. It will never go away and
will be viewed by prospective universities, graduate programs, post-graduate programs, and employers. For that reason, a certain level of maturity is advised for all dual credit students.
