    IS THE SOUTH AFIDCAN

    GOVERNMENT DOMINATED

    Y

    MARXISTS

    By Peter Hammond

    I t

    is surprising thaL many

    observers have dismissed the very

    real

    co

    ncerns of communist

    domination in South Afri

    ca

    as

    an

    "allegation" and a "rumour". When

16 of the 26 cabinet members

    appointed by the

    ANC are

    members,

or "former members", of the South

    Aflican Communist Party

    (SACP)

then one has to reluctantly admit

    that Mandsm has far

    mOre than a

foothold in the New South Africa.

Even more incredibl e is the attempt

to ridicule any who "claim that the

    election was rigged".

    The hard and objecti

    ve

    reality is

    that the SA elections m

    ay

    have been

an example of the most fraudulent

    election ever held. Thousands

    were

murdered during the 4 months of

    electioneeIing in the run-up

    to

    the

    elections. Millions of ballot papers

    went missing just before the

    elections. Thousands of voting

    stations reponed irregulalities;

    shOltages of ballot papers, incolTect

    ballots,

    no

    ballot boxes, no ink

    ~ t h

    which

    to

    mark voters, no batteries

for the ultra violet lamps to check if

    the voter had already voted,

inadequate security, and no box for

    the Inkatha Freedom Party ofDr.

Buthelezi on many millions of the

ballot sheets. The leader of the

    Democratic Party claimed that there

were literally millions of incidents of

    fraud and irregularit

    ie

    s in the

    election.

There was massive fraud in the

    voting process, during the

    transportation of ballot boxes

    and

    even in the counting process.

    Independent Electorial Commission

    (lEe)

    officials were caught switching

    boxes and tampeling with ballots.

    Widely divergent and contradictory

    statistics were released by the

    IEC

    and a

    ll

    attempts to finish connting

    was abandoned after much

    confusion and delays. Systematic

    computer fraud was also discovered.

In the end counting was abandoned

    and the statistics were manipulated

by the officials in what they

    descri.bed

    as

    "horse trading .. to

    resolve dispmes." When confronted

abom the blatant frau d and

    irregulariti

    es

    in the election and

    counting process, the

    l e

    chailman

Judge Kriegler admiued it and said,

    "You

can't work in a brothel and

    remain chaste."

It was blatant hY)JOClisy for the

    West to praise this fraudulent

election. TIlere is not one Westem

nation which would tolerate I of

    the fraud and inegulalities that

    pervaded this election

    in

    their own

countries. (Those who would like to

    Those who described the South

    Afltcan elections as "the first

    democratic elections in South Africa"

and as "a victory for democracy"

were engaging in a game of wishful

    thin king.

Unwelcome as the truth may be -

we need to face the facts: the

    ANC's

    election victo

    ry

    was ovelwhelmingly

    a

    viCtOlY

    [or sanctions, subversion,

    terrorism, intimidation and fraud.

    Dem

ocraey had little to do with it.

    Nearly 8

    million people became

unemployed as a result of sanctions

to bring the ANC to power. Over

    we

and 5 million black children we re

ANC to power. Over 120,000 people

were murdered by the ANC and

    PAC

    supporters over the last

    34

yea rs in order to bring the ANC to

    power.

    No

    other counlly has ever

    suffered snch a sustai ned

    international hate and sanctions

campaign as South Aflica has. Now

we have the largest number of mass

    murders, bombers, communist

    terrorists, kidnappers and child

    abusers

    eve

    r appointed to power in

anyone parliament. Is this what the

    West wanted? Was

    all

    the bloodshed

    and suffering worth it?

    The

    ANC

    Nelson Mandela has for

decades been in close alliance with

    the

    SA

    Communist Party (SACP).

    TIle SACP

    never registered

    [o

    r the

election, never ran as a legitimate

political party, and was never placed

on the ballot papers - yet their

    candidates dominate the cabinet

    of

    the new government Although

    no

    body voted

    fo

    r the

    SACP,

    the

ANC chose (in violation of SA

    electorial law )

    to

    give at least 31 of

the AN C's National Assembly seats

    to

    members of the SACP. In

    addition,

    16

    of the ANC's Cabinet

    posts were awarded to members,

    or

"f01m er members", of the SA

    Communist Party

It would be naive ofus to take

    undue consolation in the democratic

    nature of the new

    SA

    Constitution.

Firstly, it is a transitional document.

TI1e final constitution is ye t to be

    drawn up. Secondly, a cursory

    reading of the previous S o ~ e t

constitution (unde ' which tens of

    th ousands

    of

    Churches were closed

    and millions of Russian Christians

    il

    prisoned and executed) actually

    guaranteed freedom ofspeech,

    worship, movement, assembly, etc.

    jo seph is an example

    of

    how a

believer can remain faithful to the

    Lord even in exile, slavery

    and

    imprisonment. And God rewarded

Joseph's fa ithfulness by raising him

    up

    to

    be prtme minister of Egypt.

    Daniel remained faithful

    to

    God

even in exile in a foreign land

    and

was raised up to serve as prime

minister even under,a heathen king -

    yet without compromising

    his

    faith.

    Nehemiah managed to rebuild the

wa lls ofj emsalem even while

    under

    foreign occupation. Elijah managed

    to evade the

    should we respond?

    In any

    conflict

    we

    can say with

    Shadrac

    Meshach and Abednego:

    The God whom we

    serve is able

We must recognize that God is

.sovereign over the kingdoms of men

    (Danie 4:25). Times change.

    Seasons come and

    go (Ecc . 3: 1-

    8).

    Kingdoms lise and fall. Leaders

come and go. (Psalm 2). The wicked

    carry

    in

    themselv

    es

    the seeds of their

    own destruction (Psalm 37:38).

    Humanism is a self-destruCli

    ve

    ideology (Psalm 34:21).

    Go

working all things tOgether for good

for those who love Him and are

    called according

    to

    His purpose

    Ev

experience the comfort and calm of

    Ch,ist (Psalm 46).

    A CllTistian response

    to

    the

    present situation would be: To

grieve over the destructive results of

sin (Psalm 31); to repent for the sins

    of our nation

    (2 Chron. 7: 14); to

pray for spilitual revival in the

    churches of South Africa (Daniel

    9:3-19);

    to

    proclaim the Word of

    God (2 Tim.

    4:1.-

    5); to evangelize

    (Luke 24:47); make

    diSC

    iples

    (Matthew 28: 18-20) and strengthen
