Although conducted over the one rounel of patrol only, this eventwas of interest to mcmbors keeping each patrol keen and at the readyFor instant ca ll .

The previously menti oned sub sti tutions and member-s failing toreport were the main reason for any breakdown in this competition. If it had not been for the efforts of my vice-captain, Bruce Bywater,in first compiling the events and then conducting thern, I am sure wewould not have had a result l"1'o1":nhis competition. Thanks Bruce'.Jl;lgl1J_cbcrshi.p

A . good increase in member-ship was achieved with all candid-ates presented for examination gaining their certificates, This mustreflect on the trainirig given to member's by Hoy Gilbert and David.'I'r igg who gained their instructor certificates, and Bruce Bywaterwho guidod Roy and Davi c I in thci r ius truction .

The "Bunkhouse' undoubtedly had. an effect on membership, and it is hoped thi s will also be the case in 19G4~G;-) All members arcasked to scout around their fri(mdf3 and try to incr easo the membershipeven further."Bunkhouse' ,

Members who used this building, whereas previously ithas beentents or the sand were unanimous on the advantages of having somewhereto stay.

'I'hi s would not have been possible without the as si.stance ofMr . and Mrs Illig, and I am sure all mornbe r-s join roc in saying asincere "thank :/01.1" to thcs people.

In conclusron , 1 would Iike to once agatn thank everyone connectedwith the club, the active members) the member s , the committee, m.yvioe=captain , for as si sting mo in the performance of my duties as clubcaptain.

SOCIAL SECRETAH.ytS REPOETOnce again the club is social functions held during the season were

reasonably successful and provided quite a lar-ge source of revenue toboost our General and Building Fund Account

We ran Iewcr dances during; Christmas holidays and they were allwell attended and quite profitable In all, these nights realised a profitof 120

As it was rammg on New Years Eve , we probably missed a Iotof the crowd from nearby Kennett and Cumberland River and itwas onlya sma.ll crowd that sta.yed [or the barbecue on the beach after the dance.

The club wa.s again grateful for the help given by the parents andfriends in the camping area in support of our functions.

The "two bob" swimming lessons were again held in the rock pooland thanks to the assistance of Helen Williams and Sue Harrison moneydonated amounted to approximately f 1s0, O.

During April we held the barbecue at Templestowc and the peoplewho were able to find the site' enjoyed an afternoon in a very pleasantsetting, \\70 profited by E120 > and we will possibly have ,1 similar outingduring September or October

At the time of writing thcfjnal Cigurcs for the hall were not available:however , it seems we made a profit in the vicini ty of 40, Not quite asgood as previous years as there were fewer tables sold this year,

All. in all I think VIC must have a wider rCI))'cscntat.ion of dub memberswho arc willing to assist in organizing and attending our functions to m a I Z E : : ;them even more succcasful in the future,

    G. Jones,Social SecretariesPTAIN'S REPO!IT

I would, at this stap;cj like to thank all those who helped us, eitherwith the boat, or with train ..ng throughout the season, It was indeed apprec-iated and helped to make our beating more enjoyable.
