"Praise and Glory

With all the angels praise God, glorify him - in him and through him, and through all his creatures in heaven

and on earth: exalt him above all for his inestimable favour in creating the human person in the image of the

Creator, and for the sovereign gift of the sacred Incarnation of our God, who is so good that, after having

created all things for our sake, he himself became truly man and our loving Brother, so as to restore all things

by his glorious death and his passion. (Testament. Of St. Colette)"

This is the last section of the Testament. There are only a few more weeks left to meditate upon it. This is a

very Franciscan paragraph. The whole of creation gives praise and glory: both the living and non living

creation. Here we can read the echo of the Brother Sun and Sister Moon theology. Here our dogs and cats

are our brothers and sisters. Here, Jesus is not only our God and Lord but mostly our Brother. What do we

think and how do we relate to our siblings: Sun, Moon, dogs, cats and Jesus?

Some Very Good News!

Our Parish and School have been blessed to have received a substantial monetary gift in Memory of Lisa

Therese Sasing Kuivinen. Lisa loved with an incredible sense of energy and passion. While it was for a

shorter time than we would have liked, the intensity of her love lives on. Through this Memorial, Lisa’s

beautiful soul will be remembered by her generous funding for the prayerful enhancements to our Sanctuary,

for additional resources to support artistic creativity in our School’s Art classes, for upgrading the

technological capability in our library/computer lab, as well as funds for enriching the Religious Education

Program/FOCUS Ministry. This incredibly generous gift magnifies the love and pays homage to the talents

and gifts Lisa developed and shared during her time at St. Colette. The Lisa Kuivinen Memorial gift is an

offering which serves as a sign of beauty, hope and love for our parish. A symbol of Hope. . . .

“A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam

And for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world

But then it flies again and though we wish it could have stayed . . . .

We feel lucky to have seen it.”

Page 4

no viviente.

A través

Mission Statement We, the faith community of St. Colette, in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel are committed to follow Jesus Christ by being ”the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world”. By our Baptism we are called to serve people of all cultures, migrants, and those who have no voice of their own; our born and unborn children; victims of violence, and the impoverished. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and nurtured by the Eu-charist, we are led to promote human dignity and justice for all people. We believe that this is the way the Lord is calling us to be a sign of His kingdom in this time and place.
