Z3 Computer (1941)Konrad Zuse, the inventor, wanted to prove that it

was possible to have a reliable machine to solve arithmetic equations

It could take upto 5 instructionsaddition & subtractionmultiplication & divisionsquare root

First computer built entirely out of relaysrelay is an electronically powered switch used when more than one

circuit must be controlled by one signal

Used adders; digital circuits that performed addition

Input was entered via a special keyboard and output was displayed on a strip of light

Electronic Digital Computer (1942)

Atanasoff-Berry computer was the first Electronic Digital Computer

Its purpose was to solve systems of linear equations, it could solve up to 29 equations at a time

It established many important elements of modern technology including binary, arithmetic and electronic switching method

Turing Machine

● Used to simulate the results of any computer algorithm.● Originally developed in 1936 by Alan Turing, to decode “Enigma”, the

Nazi code during World War 2. ● Purpose: To be used to help scientists discover the limitations of

automatic computing and to simulate code from any algorithm imaginable.

● It works by having a large roll of paper available directly in the machine, and a marker (e. g.) A pencil and eraser, will go through and mark data, based on a set of user-defined rules.

Relay Based- IBM MARK 1

❏ Built by Howard Aiken and a team of IBM engineers in 1944.

❏ 765,000 components and hundreds of miles of wire.

❏ Used by John Von Neumann for implosion.

Transistor

❏Created in 1947 by John Bardeen, Walter Brattain and William Shockley.

❏Replaced vacuum technology.

❏Paved the way for smaller and cheaper technologies.

Color TV

● An advancement to the original Monochrome Television, which was used in Grayscale. (Different shades of gray to simulate color).

● Today, virtually all televisions except for closed circuit surveillance cameras, are color, so the term is semi- redundant.

● How it works is 3 RGB (Red, Green and, Blue) versions of the are flashed in rapid succession, which produces a full color image to the viewer.

Bell Laboratory

❏Founded in 1925 by Alexander Graham Bell

❏Invented the transistor, SIGSALY and a series of complex number calculators.

❏Seen as one of the most inventive companies in history.

NBC (National Broadcasting Company)

Original people to use color programming

The peacock's feathers represent the colors of the television.

It is largely their doing, that color television became widespread.
