Are You Leaving A Record For The Future?
I t may prove a serious matter in years to come if by any chance
you should be incorrectly listed in or left out of the City Direc
tory. Cases have occurred where the evidence of the City
Directory, as to residence or occupation, has had an important
bearing on the disposal of a fortune. Business men, especially,
should see to it that their firm's record is absolutely correct and
all changes should at once be reported.
II Better Be Safe Than Sorry"
A small amount invested will list you under several lines of your
business.

COMPANY OF PROVIDENCE
rrA Friendly Banking Service" 1851-Chartered as a State Bank in May. First bus iness quarters of the "Bank of Commerce" were in the "What Cheer Block" at 20 Market Square.
1854-Increased business resulted in the lease of land on the north side of Market Square, known as the "Coffee House Estate," where the Bank's second home was erected at No.4.
1865-0n August 1st, this Bank began tr'ansacting business under the National Bank Act of 1864, and became "The National Bank of Commerce of Providence."
1913-Continued growth necessitated the leasing of more commodious quarters. Banking rooms were opened on the street floor of the Turks Head Building.
1923-In January, larger and more prosperous than ever, the Bank moved into its own building, at the corner of Westminster and Orange Streets, just above the Arcade.
Here, at 146 Westminster Street, The National Bank of Commerce & Trust Company, offers every modern facility, and prompt, accurate handling of any financial requirements of customers who desire ...•

YOU LIKE to Patronize those Concerns Who are in Business to Stay.
It's human to expect that such business estab lishments always stand back of the wares they sell.
The advertising in this Directory is suggestive of the stability and permanency of the advertisers.
Frauds. fakes. get-rich-quicks and other schemers have little use for directory advertising. It lives too long.
The modern city directory is a business institu tion. I t occupies a place peculiarly its own. It is as necessary to the progress and developmen t of a city generally as anything naturally would be which deals with such a fundamental as the citi zens themselves.
IF YOU ARE NOT ADVERTISING YOUR BUSINESS IN THE DIRECTORY, MAY WE EXPLAIN HOW AND WHY IT WILL PAY YOU.
