Preface -

me hymns in this book are called "TGngdolil Hymns" because they relate to the liingdo~n of God. ,111 who lore the Lord Jesxis and his appearing delight to sing hylnris to his praise. He is- here. The command to the Christian is that this good news shall be told to the people.

I The children are a rising generation, many of whom ill be among those who will never die. Surely they shoulcl he taught to sing the praises of the King of glory, who conies to bless all the families of the earth who ~vill receive his blessing. In the children's Bible classes these hymns -\\.ill be fonnd helpful and -

beneficial. Song soothes the mind and makes glad the heart. The song of praise now beginning to rise in the earth will con- tinue until filially every creature that breathes will be singing the praises .tf the King of kings and Lord of lords.

The selection of these hymns m7as made chiefly by Brother William F. Jones of Vancouver, B. C. The writers are divers. The SOCIETY publishes them to encourage the young in the study of the Divine Plan and in their praise to the great King, Christ Jesus, and to the Almighty, Jehovah God. They are sent forth with the prayer that they may be a blessing to many.

Foreword

For many centuries parents llave taught: their children that God has provided a great 1al;c of fire in \\-31ich Hc torment sinners fo~.cvcr. Secessa~.ily such tlloughts frightened tlie chil-

- dren, \\-lie have often lieard the name of God wit11 dread, fear and tre~~ll)liag.

In the Sunclay Sel~ools God's name has been largely ignored except to tell tlie children wllat a terrihle place IIe has for the punishlllcnt of thc -\vicl;ed. The n:lnie of Jesus has been magni- fied, ho~r-ercr, and the little ones have been told abont His good- ness and that Re might save them. As proof of \\-hat has heen the effect of the teaching of error upon the child mind, the fol- lowing instance is related. A little child after some mo~ncnts of silent meditation addressed its parent thus, "31other, I I i n o ~ what I am going to do as soon as I get to heaven; I am going to run and hide behind Jesus so God can't get me." >

Living now in tile light of present truth those parents who know God's plan ol\-e it to their children and to their neighbor's children to teach them the truth cancerning God. and His be- loved Son Jesus Christ. There are millions of children now on earth who will live forever and not die, but they must kno\v the truth. Jesus said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent." - Up to now there never has been such an opportunity to teach

- - the children that God is the great author of everything that is good; that in Him are equally balanced \vistlom, justice, love and power and that everything He does fa r man is for his good; that it was God who Lave His beloved Son Jesus, to die as a

-sacrifice that man might have an opportunity for life. Teach -- ihe children the truth concerning Jehovah and they Mill love 1 - Him and serve Him. They will magnify His name and magnify - the name of Jesus the great Redeemer. Then tho children will --_ \?.ant to sing the praises of1 God and the Lord Jesus. -.c J -- -

I n view of tlie fact tliat 11-e are now living in the time of the L o ~ d ' s secolid prctselice, 1v11~11 Ile as the great liillv alicl esccntor a. of Jcho~7ali's 1~1311 ;s setting lnp His I;inpdom, it IS the blessed privilege of tlie olclcr oncs to teacll the dlildrc~n to sing tile praises of J ~ h o r i i h ancl the praises of Ilis beloved Son. I n tlie language of tlie Psalmist,

"Sing praises to Go'd, Sing p.rniscs,

Sing p r a i s ~ ~ s ~ m t o our Icing, Sing praises." -Psalilz 47 : 6.

Believing that there is a great neecl for a song b001i f or the chil- drc :~~ which will enable tlielil to siug the praises of the Lord in

, harmony witll His plan, we are publishing ancl sencling forth the follou-ing collectioli of hymns. J tucl~ credit is due to Brother JJ-m. Jones of Vancouver. B. C., for this arrallgellient of poems and hymns. Having confidence ia his ability as a lnnsiciail and lcnorving him to be thoroughlg- clcrotecl to the Lord, we have relied much on his judgment in tlie selection of the ones here pnblished. So~nc assistance \\-as also renclered by a fully conse- crated Sister in Christ.

Tire hope tlie little ones 11-il1 find much joy in singing these hymns to the praise of our Lord ant1 of Jeliol-ah, ancl that their parents \\-ill be made glad and join ~viilz tlie children in these

- songs of praise. With the hope that these songs may gIadden the hearts of

many children and bring liollor and praise to the Great Creator, froin vhom corrieth every good and perfect gift, and also be to the praise of His beloved Son., we send then1 forth.
