The Christmas Offering
International Mission Board:
Because of who He is
If you are a follower of Jesus, you are part of the task to
fulfill the Great Commission. Yet, billions remain lost and
time may be running out for them. We must pray more
intentionally and give more sacrificially than ever before.
(Goal - $20,000)
North American Mission Board: Send Me
Cities are “the mouthpiece of any nation and the place where
culture is created” according to Aaron Coe, NAMB’s vice
president for Mobilization and a former church planter in
New York. We expect to see a gospel influence radiate out of
the cities we reach and impact the rest of the region.
(Goal - $5000)
The Baptist General Association of Virginia
The BGAV is a cooperative missions and ministry
organization that consists of over 1,400 autonomous churches
in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as churches from
neighboring states. Its mission is to furnish the Baptist
churches of Virginia a medium of cooperation for the
propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Goal -$2000)
End of Year Message The end of the year is fast approaching. Giving Statements are
available for viewing on our Member Sign-In page located on the
church website. Once the final 2015 contributions are posted, you will
receive an email notification with the instructions explaining how to
download your final 2015 Giving Statement. If you would like your
statement mailed, please email [email protected] and I will be
happy to do that for you. If you notice any discrepancies, please don’t
hesitate to contact me and I will get it corrected. In accordance to IRS
regulations, all gifts for 2015 must be in the church office or post-
marked by December 31, 2015. Any gift dated or post-marked after
December 31, 2015 will be posted to your 2016 giving statement.
Your new 2016 envelopes will be mailed very soon. We have listed the
many different ways to give your tithes and offerings to Bayside
Baptist Church on the new envelopes. Even if you give electronically,
assigning each giver a giving number helps us reconcile the gift to the
correct giver.
The Bridge Network of Churches
The BNOC is a Metropolitan Association of churches
composed of 95 Baptist churches. The association serves
a population of more than 1.3 million people and has as
its purpose statement: “Partners in the Great
Commission.” They seek to grow healthy churches,
plant new churches, and partner for spiritual
transformation in Hampton Roads and around the world.
(Goal - $2,000)
HIS1040
HIS1040 stands for Helping Indigenous Servants in the
1040 window. This means collaborating with God to help
fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ
among the most Unreached People by empowering
indigenous servants. HIS1040 is currently focusing their
ministry in the nation of India. (Goal - $3,000)
Prayerfully consider what you and your family can give
to this special Christmas Offering as we support these
mission organizations to help lead people around the
world to trust in Christ. Use the Christmas envelope that
you will receive with your regular envelopes, pick one
up at the church or use online giving through the
website: www.baysidebc.org.
is our once a year emphasis in which we give to the International Mission
Board, the North American Mission Board, State Missions, the Bridge Network of Churches (formerly Norfolk Area Baptist
Association) and HIS1040. 100% of this offering supports the work on the mission field. It does not cover administrative costs but is
used directly on the mission field. When you give to the Christmas Offering, you are giving sacrificially to share the gospel here and
around the world. Our total goal is $32,000.
This is also a great time to sign-in the member’s page, look at
your directory information and make any updates needed. If
you need assistance with this, please don’t hesitate to contact
me ([email protected]). I will be happy to help you
navigate through the sign in and updating process. This will be
especially helpful when we begin Electronic Check-In for all
our children.
Thank you for your continued support to the ministries of
Bayside Baptist Church.

Christmas seems like the most exciting, anticipated, and bustling time of
year. But have you ever wondered why everyone gets so worked up over
the fact that a baby was born? Yes, Jesus would be the Savior of the world,
freeing us from our sins. And yes, Jesus would establish God’s Kingdom
and blessing on Earth. But he doesn’t do any of these things as a baby. So
why do we care so much about the birth of Christ?
What was the longest that you’ve ever had to wait for something really
great? Nine months, awaiting your first child? A year, maybe two, during
your wedding engagement? Twelve years, plus maybe four to six more,
before finally completing your education?
Since the beginning of time, God has been making promises. Promises that
world hunger would be wiped away, that sickness would be nonexistent,
that there would be no more fighting or sadness. Promises that there would
only be joy and everlasting life for everyone. After thousands of years,
when Jesus was born, God was finally fulfilling all of his promises. Why do
we care about Christ’s birth? Because on that day 2000 years ago, when
Jesus was born, God kept his promises. Whatever you long for this
Christmas season, whether it be joy or purpose, hope or comfort, God offers
them to you through Jesus Christ. God is not only a promise-maker, but a
promise-keeper. May you find comfort and joy in the birth of our Savior
this Christmas season.

“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Children’s Ministry THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this year’s
Trunk R’ Treat! What made Trunk R’ Treat so awesome?
YOU did! The games, trunks, food, and fun wouldn’t have
happened without all of our volunteers. Thank you! As we
move into the New Year, the children’s ministry is looking
for 15 people to join our team on Sunday mornings at the
9:45 and 11:00am services. Would you consider joining our
team in one of these ways? If you want to care for babies,
our nursery team is for you. If you like helping kids feel
God’s love, our preschool team is for you. If you enjoy
sharing God’s truth and grace, our elementary school team is
for you. Or, if you want to serve, but don’t have a consistent
schedule, our substitute team is for you. God is moving
among our kids at Bayside Baptist Church, and he’s inviting
you to be a part of it! Email Liz at [email protected] for
more information.
Christmas Services The children’s ministry is very excited to present a special
child-focused Christmas Eve service on December 24 at
5pm. Our Bayside children will present Christmas songs and
read Scripture, followed by a homily and the traditional
candle-lit singing of Silent Night. Please join us on Christmas
Eve for this very special service.
Then on December 27 we will have 2 services:
The 8:30am service and Senior Adult Sunday School classes will meet as usual. The 9:45 and 11:00am services will be combined into one service beginning at 10am in the Café. There will be no Sunday School except for children. Parents can drop their preschoolers off in their Sunday School rooms and elementary school students can be dropped off and picked up at C-WORLD.
Catalyst Student Ministry Catalyst, Bayside’s Youth Ministry, will be celebrating our
annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 20 from 6-
8pm. It’s going to be a blast, and parents as well as youth are
welcome! Be sure to wear your tackiest sweater and bring a
yummy snack or dessert to share. We all look forward to
celebrating Christ’s birth together!
MOPS MOPS @Bayside has gotten off to a great start this
fall! Being able to send 10 moms to MomCon in
Indianapolis was a great way to start our year and
we’ve set a goal to send 15 moms to Milwaukee, WI
next Sept. Please be in prayer for God to
work in the lives and hearts of our moms this year as
we all lean into Him and learn to embrace rest,
celebrate lavishly and have eyes to see the goodness
in all the little things around us.
In October we celebrated our first responders by
delivering cookies and other baked goodies to 2
police stations and a fire house. It was very well
received and an opportunity for us to tell them about
all the exciting things happening at Bayside Baptist.
On Thanksgiving Day we had several moms get up
extra early to make and deliver a variety of breakfast
casseroles and other goodies to these same folks.
Our prayer is that by appreciating them in this way,
these men and women who serve our community will
feel the love of Christ. We’ve also been able to leave
information about MOPS, the Men’s Ministry and
our church in general at each location.
In December, we’ll do some fundraising as we will
be hosting a “Donation Only” Luncheon in the Café
on Sunday, December 6. We hope you’ll plan to
stay after church that day and join us for lunch!
We’ll be serving two different kinds of yummy
homemade soup, salad, and homemade rolls.
We’ll also be “auctioning off” desserts made
especially for you by our MOPS moms.
Finally, MOPS @Bayside would like to thank all the
AWANA directors and volunteers! We know that
without you all giving your time to play with, love
on, and teach our children during our MOPS
meetings, the moms at Bayside would not have the
opportunity to develop relationships with other
moms and grow their relationship with Christ as they
grow the next generation. Thank you! The
volunteering of your time is helping Bayside Baptist
Church cultivate and grow Kingdom Families that
will reach not only our community, but all the way
around the globe. Merry Christmas, Bayside Baptist!
KAIROS 10 Prison Ministry In October, four men from Bayside Baptist Church
participated the KAIROS 10 Prison Ministry Event at
Sussex 11 State Prison in Waverly, Virginia. Larry Price,
Gene Smelser, Jim Wirth and Mark Pullen were privileged
to share in this life-changing experience.
Forty-two prisoners spent four days together studying the
Word, singing gospel songs, sharing in worship, and
getting to know the life and power of Jesus Christ. We
literally watched the Holy Spirit touch and transform the
lives of hardened criminals in the span of four days.
KAIROS Prison Ministry is going to become a vital
component of our Men’s Ministry going forward from this
point. Please continue to pray and support this exciting
ministry in the days ahead.
Weekday Preschool
Thank you for all of the support and prayers that you have
offered to Bayside Baptist Weekday Preschool staff and
families. We are truly blessed to see our preschoolers
growing, both physically and in maturity. We have a few
events that we thought may be of interest to you. See
below for a list of events. If you have any questions,
please call 460-0333 and I will be happy to assist you.
Have a wonderful Christmas season,

Director

an opportunity to shop for Christmas during our Weekday
Preschool hours. We will have various vendors
represented at this event (i.e. food, jewelry, bags, wreaths
and so much more). Stop N’ Shop hours are: Tuesday,
December 1st and Wednesday, December 2nd from 9:00
am – 1:00 pm.

Operation Shoebox Through the months of October and November
Bayside Baptist Church had been collecting
shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas
Child. We collected 115 shoeboxes, the youth donated
18 and MOPS put together 20, making our grand total
of shoeboxes donated 135! Great Job BBC!
