2 New Ghaziabad, Friday, November 20, 2009 p l u s City CITY BUZZ W ith the intention of introducing Kathak to the new generation, Kaushambi Apartments Residents Welfare Association (KARWA) is arranging an interactive session with Guru KARWA TO ORGANISE interactive session on Kathak T he administration of EDM mall honoured the children of Kaushambi who had can- vassed for the recently held blood donation camp at Nanda Towers. Around 46 children participated in the programme. The children were quite enthusiastic about the whole show. Apart from a drawing competition (pic-1), several interesting games were arranged. A cake-cutting ceremony (pic-1) followed thereafter. Certificates were distributed (pic-1) to the par- ticipants while gift vouchers and certificates were award- ed to the winners. EDM honours kids on Children's Day K um Nikhila Ramanthan's Bharatnatyam Arangetram pro- gramme was organised at Karthiyayani Socio Cultural Complex Hall in association with Sree Uttara Guruvayur- appan Temple Mayur Vihar Phase-on November 8. The jam packed audi- torium was witness to a dance performance by Nikhila, a very soulful music by G Elangovan and precise nat- tuvangam by Marie Elangovan. The accom- panying artists includ- ed G Raghuraman on the flute and MV Chandrasekhar on the mridangam. The highlight of the programme was the render- ing of B h o Shambo, a piece dedi- cated to Lord Shiva composed by Swami Dayananda Saraswati. Nikhila ended the pro- gramme with a Tillanna by Guru Late KJ Govindarajan. The programme was presided over by Lakshmi Chandra, chairman, Trisaraa Trust. Arangetram programme charmed many Subhas Chandra of the Lucknow Gharana. The interactive session will be held on November 22. Children of nine years and above can attend. Interested candidates will have to gather at Sumeru Tower in Kaushambi. This will be an easy and golden opportunity for Kaushambi residents to learn traditional dance from an experienced dancer. An exponent of the Lucknow Gharana, Subhas Chandra is keen to train the children of Kaushambi Kathak to spread the message of customary dance. He was honoured with Shringar Mani award and Kathak Guru Award. 2 1 3
