Here, on the 11th curt., Mr Christopher Armstrong. For a quarter of a century and more, he devoted much of his time to public affairs, was an elder of the Church, treasurer to the Session, and repeatedly held the office of Dean of Guild. As public Almoner, his death has left a blank that cannot be supplied; and, though ever prompt in relieving the deserving, no one was more quick in detecting and tracing imposture through all its manifold doublings and windings. Publicly and privately, he conciliated esteem by his cheerful, social, obliging disposition; and in his own family, no man was more remarkable for the exercise of those domestic virtues which render home the happiest spot on earth.
