180 degree rule The 180 degree rule acts like a line between the two charcters in the scene you must stay on one side of the line to ensure when the characters are having a conersation they actually look like they are looking at each other you may only pass this line in a camera movement, once the camera movement has finished a new line will be created and again you must stick to that side of the line usually it is best to have a establishing shot first to show the audience where your characters are. This is the establishing shot which shows where the characters are

       We  then  cut  to  the  other  side  but  don’t  cross  the  line  we  have  made  between  the  characters
