Securing the Future Enterprise Today: “Build Pervasive Cyber Resilience Now” With the proliferation of more and more sensitive data, expanding connectivity, and the adoption of automated processes, new research reveals that C-suite and IT decision makers need to embrace a different approach to cybersecurity to effectively protect against future cyber risks. While most companies have a chief information security officer (CISO) or assigned cybersecurity to a C-suite executive, such as a chief information officer (CIO), often, these leaders have limited influence on cybersecurity strategy outside their departments. Additionally, nearly half of CISOs acknowledge that their responsibilities for securing the organization are growing faster than their ability to address security issues. This session will highlight the struggle to prioritise cybersecurity being one of the main agendas for an organisation and how the shift in responsibility and accountability from top-down to the individual business units will impact future operations and productivity. THE EDGE, CONNECTED CLOUD 4.00pm

Panel Discussion: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Are You Ready To Move to Multi-cloud? Enterprises are used to having multiple suppliers; in a cloud context that makes engineering, security and operations more complex, introduces risk and often reduces the opportunity to get volume discounts. Inevitably, multi-cloud is nearly always more expensive. But how do we choose the right vendor(s) since they all provide different services and what criteria should we use to define the preferred one or two providers? Is cloud arbitrage a myth? Clients have spent millions building cloud broker layers, to move workloads between cloud providers, but this approach loses a lot of cloud benefits and increases complexity. Also, what are some of the cloud best practices? Cloud providers are innovating at an accelerated pace such that industry best practices change regularly. How do businesses keep up with that? Finally, talent. Do we have a team for each cloud application or do we get teams to manage and work across multiple clouds? Moderator: Darren Thayre, Partner - Head of Asia Pacific (Technology Practice), Oliver Wyman

4.40pm

Coding for Success: Open Source Software (OSS) and IP Considerations From IoT to education, virtually every industry is impacted by the adoption of cloud computing. At the heart of unfettered cloud innovation lies open source and an agile developer community. Experts believe open source will fuel disruption and shape the future of cloud computing, with multiple tools such as Eucalyptus, OpenNebula and Linux already available. Against the backdrop of a complex and quickly evolving open source and cloud computing universe, the need to protect digital creations through Intellectual Property (IP) has become critical. The patent litigation on cloud technologies has been increasing by 700% over the past four years; innovators must consider smart strategies to mitigate IPR risks. This session discusses how cloud computing and open source are leading digital transformation and provides insights on how to protect and promote success by leveraging IP in a simple way.

INDUSTRY FOCUS 4.0: INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT & SMART HEALTHCARE 11.00am

Opening Keynote: Asian Smart cities: Are You Ready for the Disrupted Future? City readiness for a disrupted future is the foundational theme for future cities and economies to prepare for the opportunities and risks that digital disruptions will bring. Over half our world’s population lives in cities today and their rapid growths suggest they will become even greater economic powers. There are increasingly more complex demands on critical infrastructure, policy makers, educators, and industry leaders across global cities. Competition intensifies as leaders position their cities as ideal places to live, learn, work, and invest – while being mindful to respond to technological shifts to succeed. Identifying the set of governing criteria becomes critical to move the success needle and tap on the opportunities amongst the many vulnerabilities exposed to the leading cities in the face of technological disruptions. Today, we’ll look across Asia: which future city is winning? What is the city readiness for embracing the opportunities and managing the challenges of AI? And which ‘sleeper’ cities should current leaders be looking out for? Jacob Hook, Managing Partner, Asia-Pacific, Oliver Wyman

Data Disrupt This Space? Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are two technologies that often go hand-in-hand. Advancements in technology have allowed us to program AI to analyze Big Data sets, deriving trends and insights imperceptible to mere humans. These two concepts will eventually extend to all areas of the economy, and satellite is no exception. Firstly the use of AI will contribute to an optimization of satellite networks and related capabilities. In parallel, the use of AI will create new sources of data and traffic, through the multiplication of smart assets requiring live data transmissions, and through the transfer of intelligence to the cloud and to the edge of communication networks. This panel will discuss the variety of ways that AI and Big Data will impact the satcom industry, and what the future may hold. Panellists:

Digging Deeper on Cybersecurity: Securing the Expanding Cloud Footprint

4.10pm

Protecting CIIs via Detection-less Paradigm Today’s cyber landscape is radically different from the past’s. Advanced threats are stealthy and lethal. They are difficult to detect. Unfortunately, cyber protection technologies continue to progress in a detection-oriented framework. It is therefore not uncommon for malicious codes to reside in a CIIs or enterprises and stay undetected for hundreds of days, exfiltrating data in complete silence. Traditional methods are no longer working. Detect nothing does not mean it is safe, a detection-less strategy is imminently needed. This sharing session focuses on addressing the common gaps in today’s cyber protection strategies collectively and offers the thought leadership to fill these gaps from a highly operational, practitioner’s perspective. Ken Soh, CEO, Athena Dynamics

DEEP LEARNING, AI, AND ROBOTICS 9.00am

Session Keynote: How AI will Disrupt Today’s Innovation Practices Innovation offices and teams need innovation. Practices like Design Thinking have reached a plateau. Corporate innovators are challenged by the speed and complexity of technical change and AI is moving faster than a speeding bullet. Thus, AI exploitation is not understood by most enterprises. This talk will highlight how AI is poorly understood and how it is under appreciated. Due to its inherent cognitive automation, AI is a powerful general purpose tool that can drive new R&D, make discoveries and execute product rollouts faster than humans, besides replacing human diligence. The effects of AI are more potent than we could imagine. Despite the rich opportunities, most corporate technical leadership are not able to efficiently manage Big Data and they struggle to deploy advanced Deep Learning AI systems e.g. those that could comprehend text and images to save on manpower costs, derive insights and could hence step up the automation of innovation delivery. Unsurprisingly, AI projects are often failing. Although, there are also some successful ones, what works today, may not work tomorrow. Bleak as it sounds, a few companies will eventually master AI, transforming innovation to be a less mysterious and much cheaper process. These will be the first movers in the AI First economy and this is unfolding as we speak. Professor Yu Chien Siang, Chief Innovation & Trust Officer, Amaris.AI

What Works for One, Will for Two: Cable Virtualized Orchestration and Wi-Fi Services Management Cable operators’ migration into Distributed Access Architectures (DAA) brings an explosion of new devices in the plant that need to be efficiently managed. Virtualized orchestration for the cable access network is vital for handling the provisioning, monitoring, and configuration of the devices. Similar tasks need to be executed to manage Wi-Fi devices in the network, allowing for the wireless network to be a Self Organizing Network (SON). Subscribers’ Quality of Service (QoS) is managed similarly, whether it’s a DOCSIS CPE or a Wi-Fi Access Point. In addition, Quality of Experience for the end customer needs to be evaluated. By converging these management and orchestration functions, the operator benefits from the synergies, and uses one comprehensive tool to manage the various aspects of their network. This presentation will discuss the common features that are shared by virtualized orchestration and Wi-Fi services management and explain how operators can benefit from the synergies.
