Welcome atCities4People: Smart Cities and Data Analytics

Current forecasts tell us that in the future we will all be ‘urban’.This rapid urbanization of our planet calls for smart and evidence-based responses, from both the policy side and the researchcommunity.

The M-i-City Centre at JADS aims to introduce a novel perspective onthe complexity of cities (and urban areas) by developing new data-based envisioning methods for ‘cities4people’. This will be done byusing (i) systematic decomposition tools for the urban space (the‘microcosmic city’) and (ii) (big) data on small-scale units in the city asknowledge-based building blocks for the real essence of the moderncity. Much emphasis will be put on the statistical organization of microinformation in the digital arena of contemporaneous cities as a tool forsustainable urban governance.
