OUR MISSION

The UN•GALA

Phoenix Family’s 16th Annual Un•Gala is one

expected to be our best one yet. More than

600 business and community leaders, entre-

preneurs, celebrities, and the community will

come together to celebrate their impact on the

lives of children, families, and seniors living in

low-income housing communities.

With a different theme each year, the

UN•GALA is a night to remember in a fun,

elegant atmosphere. Red carpet festivities

begin at 5:30 PM and feature a seated

dinner and an extraordinary program of live

entertainment, silent and live auctions, and

special honorees.

Phoenix Family is a non-profit organization providing

integrated social services daily to more than 6,000

children, adults, seniors and people with special

needs living in low-income housing communities.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Phoenix

Family works to build spaces where poverty is

alleviated, communities are healthy, and all people can

develop their full potential. We believe that providing

programs in the communities where people live is

the most effective way to help children, families and

seniors improve their self-sufficiency and stabilize

lives.

Phoenix Family is funded by diverse sources including

foundations, government support, and individuals,

organizations, and corporations in the community.

Together, we are redefining low-income housing

communities by creating a stable foundation where

more than 6,000 low-income children, families,

seniors, and people with special needs can thrive.

BY THE NUMBERSÎÎ The median annual income participating families

is $7,830.

ÎÎ 72% of households we serve fall beneath the

federal poverty level.

ÎÎ 96% of the children we serve qualify for free or

reduced price lunches.

ÎÎ 73% of the households we serve are led by a

single female.

ÎÎ 34% of our residents are under the age of 18 and

21% are over the age of 65.

Phoenix Family’s mission is to empower people living in low-income housing communities with

the on-site support they need to gain stability and achieve self-sufficiency.

Our sponsors’ donations immediately reach out to help others by providing a multi-tier approach to the issue of poverty.

First, you underwrite those critical services needed to help residents achieve stability through the provision of basic needs,

such as shelter, food and transportation. By achieving stability, the harmful effects of poverty are eased for all family

members and, without those stresses, families are more able to focus on the next phase of their journey out of poverty.

Then, your support provides the programs and services needed to help them become equipped to exit poverty by acquiring

the skills and knowledge that can permanently change their lives.
