The African slave trade was the largest forced migration in world history (6 to 1 compared to European immigration to America).
Ships designed for 400 slaves carried 600 slaves. 1 to 6 died on the voyage. Voyages lasted from 3 weeks to 3 months.
Between 16991845, 55 slave revolts took place close to shore.
