31:6 NKJ

Ever been in situations where courage just comes naturally to you? Usually, you’re more likely to take heart and go for it if there’s likely to be a worthwhile outcome to a situation.

Look at all the amazing things the disciples did in the book of Acts. Where did they find the motivation to preach to hostile crowds and face prison, beatings and rejection from their families? Obviously they knew that Jesus had their back. But it must be more than that! Here’s the core of the matter: they knew that having the courage to do great, faith-inspired things would draw them so much nearer to Him their friend and companion, the God of the universe. They felt so moved to step out for Him that all other things faded in comparison. Wanting to honour God and to get closer to Him in relationship were things so precious to them that they would do anything short of sin to gain them. There’s no other reason for courage in the Christian walk than these.

God’s both behind us and before us - He’s set us free so that we can have the courage to go to Him, and He stands ahead beckoning us towards Him in glorious relationship. Let’s pluck up the nerve to take a risk for Him. Trusting in Him to come through for us, and then seeing Him do so, is a deep and satisfying interaction. It’s like nothing else. Having courage and faith is pointless without anchoring it in Jesus - engaging in relationship with Him is the point of it all. If that’s something you haven’t done yet, perhaps now is the time!

We won the game 3-2 and progressed into the main draw of the Bill Turner Soccer Trophy Knockout competition. Last week, the team went to CC grammar School to play their round 1 match. It was a very evenly matched affair and was still 0-0 at half-time. grammar had lots of corner kicks but couldn’t convert any to goals. We had lots of shots at their goals too, but finally halfway through the second half Taina naividi kicked the only goal of the game and sending us to a round 2 showdown against narara Valley HS. Information about our next game will be going home to families very soon.Junior Boys SoccerOur junior boys soccer team, last week, travelled to Hamlyn Terrace to take on Lakes grammar School in the Bill Turner Soccer Cup Knockout Competition. This year we have quite a young, small team with great skills. Jai Mcnamara (Yr 11) coached the boys and did a fantastic job, really stepping up and showing incredible leadership, knowledge and rapport with our young team. Lakes grammar scored four goals in the first half (two were very lucky ones), while our boys looked a little nervous and took some time to warm to the game. Our second half was sensational, the boys really took it to the bigger opposition who couldn’t score again. unfortunately, we didn’t get a ball past their goalie but the boys will have another opportunity to play soccer for CCAS in Term 3. Thank you to Jai for doing such a wonderful job with our junior boys team.Athletics CarnivalJust a reminder that the High School Athletics Carnival is on Wednesday, 12 June.Parent Fitness ClassesOur morning fitness classes have been a massive success last term with Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays becoming very popular as a great way to start the day!
