1. Overview NEH Hutch 1 and Hutch 2 have been turned over to LCLS project for beneficial occupancy. Plans for science instrument installation are being finalized. To support the science instruments, additional mechanical and electrical support utilities are needed in the hutch. Mechanical systems include: Vacuum pump exhaust lines, process chilled water distribution manifold, compressed air accumulator and distribution manifold, and additional support for the laser safety system including AC power at specific points and a sliding laser operations door. Electrical systems include cable tray installation, instrumentation rack installation, electrical power distribution to instrumentation racks, convenience outlets along instrument beam lines, and support to the laser safety system and Hutch Protection System.
2. Hutch 1 Specific Requirements
2.1. Electrical • Instrumentation Racks. Racks B950S-10, B950S-11, B950S-12, B950S-13, B950S-14,
B950S-15, and B950S-16 are being installed by a separate SLAC Cable Shop contract. o For each rack, run two 3 phase 208VAC 20A service from Power Panels
2CBP02-950 and 2DBP02-950 (on north-east wall), terminate in Furman power distribution center in each rack. Update panel schedule. Notes: Rack B950S-10 has been connected to AC under a previous contract and is not included in this scope; routing for power to racks B950S-11, B950S-12, and B950S-13 has already been installed under the previous contract to power rack B950S-10.
• Beam line Instrument convenience outlets o Install 120VAC 20A service in quad boxes and 208 three phase outlets at 25
locations marked BEAMLINE ELECTRICAL. Circuits are specified in the AC Power table. Electrical service to be run from panels 2CBP02-950 and 2DBP02-950 inside the hutch. Note, three 208 single phase circuits at location #28 come from panel 2DBP05-950 outside hutch.
• Pump Power o Install three 208VAC 20A service on east wall at south side. Separate circuits for
each 208VAC outlet. Route conduit along east wall just above cable trays and drop to outlet locations. Route from panel 2DBP05-950 located outside hutch.
• Laser Table

o Install two 120VAC 20A circuits to laser table. Circuits will later be attached to molded plug strips on laser table enclosure under a separate contract. Route from panels 2CBP02-950 and 2DBP02-950.
• Hutch Protection System o Install one 120VAC 20A circuit with Hubble receptacle at Hutch entry panel.
Panel for service to be approved by PPS group.
2.2. Mechanical • Process Cooling Water (PCW)
o Install PCW supply and return manifolds with 20 connections each on east wall between AMO and SXR beamlines, see PCW and Compressed Air Drawing. Remove PCW piping to south wall. Install “ball valve type” mechanical valves for controlling water flow to individual devices.
o Install PCW piping from Racks B950S-10, through B950S-16 to PCW manifold. • Compressed Air
o Install 5 gal. Compressed Air accumulator on east wall as shown in drawing PCW and Compressed Air. Remove piping and service location at south wall. Install compressed air line to XTOD accumulator location on west wall
• Exhaust Ducting o Install exhaust ducting, nominal 6 inch diameter, from exhaust pump location in
south east corner to exhaust vent in north west corner of room. Provide port locations along exhaust duct as shown in the drawing and provide support for exhaust from three roughing pumps at south east corner as shown in Exhaust drawing.
• Concrete Drilling o Installation of stands and will require special mounting holes to be drilled into
the floor and anchors installed. Approximately 80 holes. Hole template to be provided by SLAC. Holes will be an approx. 50/50 mix of 3/8 inch and ½ inch flush mount Hilti HIS-N drop-in steel anchors with Hilti HIT-RE 500-SD epoxy adhesive capsules.
• Hoist/Crane o REMOVED FROM SCOPE OF THIS WORK
• Laser Safety Door o Install rolling laser safety door on inside of Hutch 1 Access door. Use Chase
Doors Saino Service Door with pass door. See figure 1 below. Door system supplied by SLAC.
3. Hutch 2 Specific Requirements
3.1. Electrical • Instrumentation Racks. Racks B950S-20, B950S-21, B950S-22, B950S-23, B950S-24,
and B950S-25 are being installed by a separate SLAC Cable Shop contract.

in drawing BEAMLINE ELECTRICAL. Circuit definitions are listed in the AC Power Table. Routing is indicated in the drawing, some routing sections are to be flex-conduit type to allow for terminal quad box to be relocated as needed. Route from Panels 2CBP03-950 and 2DBP03-950.
• Laser Safety System Displays o Install 120VAC 20A service to Laser Safety System Display locations (two inside
hutch and one outside above hutch access door) and at Laser System Control Panel location. Locations to be field marked. Route from Panels 2CBP03-950 and 2DBP03-950.
• Laser Table o Install two 120VAC 20A circuits to laser table. Circuits will later be attached to
molded plug strips on laser table enclosure under a separate contract. Route from Panels 2CBP03-950 and 2DBP03-950.
• Hutch Protection System o Install one 120VAC 20A circuit with Hubble receptacle at Hutch entry panel.
