On 8 October (one day prior to the opening of BIOTECHNICA) the top-classBIOTECHNICA event program will commence.

In addition to the BIOTECHNICA PARTNERING and the INNOVATION FORUM (com-pany and product presentations by exhibiting companies), this year sees the debut ofthe German Biotechnology Conference at BIOTECHNICA, the continuation of theformer BMBF Biotechnology Days, and the BMBF Project Forum Biotechnology.

Regeneration statt SubstitutionDie heutige medizinische Entwicklung hat zum Ziel, Ausfälle im Or-ganismus nicht durch z.B. technische Elemente komplett zu erset-zen, sondern den Organismus oder einzelne Organe bestmöglichdabei zu unterstützen, (sich) selbst zu regenerieren. Hierzu gehört auch eine möglichst natürliche Rekonstruktion vonOrganbereichen mit dem sich das Tissue Engineering auseinander-setzt und dabei mit der Stammzellforschung eng verbunden ist. Beider Veranstaltung wird ein Ausschnitt aus aktuellen Forschungsbe-reichen der regenerativen Medizin gegeben und diskutiert.

Regneration instead of SubstitutionToday’s medical development has the goal of supporting the organism orsingle organ to regenerate in the best possible way instead of replacinglosses by e.g. technical elements completely. This includes also a recon-struction of organs by tissue engineering which is closely connected tothe stem cell research. Within the meeting an extract of current researchareas of regenerative medicine is given and discussed.
