Corporate Partners

Simmons College plays such a significant and historical role in education, community revitalization, and social justice in Louisville. In this spirit of the credit union creed of, “People Helping People,” Park Community Credit Union is thrilled to partner with a local institution that shares a similar passion for reinvesting in the Louisville community. — Jim Spradlin, CEO, Park Community Credit Union

Park Community CU has provided funds for the Athletic Department to upgrade locker rooms in the gym for the men’s and women’s basketball programs and for support of the basketball games. Park Community CU has also partnered with the college’s gym facilities to set up an ITM (Interactive Teller Machine) to give patrons personal touches by answering their questions and financial issues on site – the first of its kind in the West Louisville neighborhood. Park Community Credit Union has also donated $30,000.00 in scholarship funds to provide mentoring and internships to six (6) students beginning Fall 2019.

Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn support Simmons College of Kentucky in a variety of ways. They donated $200,000.00 in 2018 to fill the gap of student debt, so that students can wipe their debt clean and graduate in a timely manner. The couple also donated to the annual Derby event in May 2018.

Simmons College is a diamond in the city and we are happy to be a part of its growth and mission to “educate students in the urban context.” - Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn

Athletics Men’s Basketball/Women’s Basketball For the first time in our history, the stage was set for an epic “Battle of The Birds.” For the first time ever, the Simmons College of Kentucky Falcons played the University of Louisville Cardinals at the KFC Yum Center on Saturday, November 12. Despite the loss (90-51), our team stood proudly and the band, our Marching Falcons played during the game’s halftime. The game created special memories for our team, helping to introduce the college and the athletic program, coached by Jerry Eaves and Butch Beard, both legendary players at The University of Louisville and NBA and coaches on both levels. Simmons also introduced our women’s basketball team who competed in the conference this year. Coach Jerry Eaves Annual Golf Tournament – June 2018 The annual golf tournament raised funds to support the Athletic Department and takes place annually the first Monday in June. The event raised over $35,000.00 in 2018.

Band Our “Simmons Marching Falcons” band performs throughout the city and country to benefit recruitment and create public relations for the school. They have performed at the Yum Center, the Pegasus Parade, Lexington Heritage Parade, and the NBCA Convention in Dallas. The band, under the direction of Julian Sam and Kevin Davenport, continue to grow with 57 members rounding out the group. Donors have given band scholarships and donations to purchase uniforms and dance team outfits for an approximate total of $30,000.00.

Our Students Terri Turner, Communications Major, Sophomore from Nashville, TN, Scholarship recipient and intern at Park Community Credit Union:

I came to Simmons College from Nashville because I wanted to learn in an HBCU environment where I’m most comfortable. I love being in the band and playing on the basketball team because everyone here is like family.

Simmons College of Kentucky has been a great place for me. It has provided me with connection to scholarships from the Psi Boule Chapter and an opportunity to a year-long Pastoral internship with Buechel Baptist Park Church. Simmons College allows me to work and be a provider to my family while pursuing my education during the day or evening as needed. – Kevin Adams, Religious Studies major and former SGA president Louisville, KY

Simmons College helped me take the first step to an education that would open greater doors for me. — Alumni – Richard Hughes graduate, Class of 2018 enrolled at Wake Forest University in Fall 2018 to complete his MS in Religious Studies.
