DAY 2 • Arrive Zagreb, CroatiaYou’ll be met at the Zagreb airport and assisted to your hotel. Relax and settle in before meeting with your Trip Experience Leader and group of 20-25 fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner. If you began your explorations early with our optional Ljubljana, Slovenia pre-trip extension, you will join the main group today.

DAY 3 • ZagrebAfter breakfast, you’ll set out on a city tour of Zagreb. You’ll walk to the Square of Ban Jelacic (Trg Bana Jelacica), the city’s hub. Like many medieval cities, Zagreb includes an Upper and Lower Town, and your tour takes in many of the landmarks of the medieval Upper Town (Gornji Grad), including Zagreb Cathedral, the bustling Dolac market, and Gric tunnel. The rest of the day is yours to explore the city. a Welcome Dinner is included at a local restaurant tonight.

DAY 4 • Zagreb • Zadar • Embark shipAfter breakfast, you’ll travel overland toward the Adriatic coast to meet your small ship in Zadar, one of Croatia’s true hidden jewels.
Here, you’ll embark the M/V Artemis or M/V Arethusa. After lunch oboard, you’ll have time to settle into your cabin and get acquainted with the ship’s inviting common areas.
This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your fellow travelers, followed by your Captain’s Welcome Dinner in the ship’s dining room.

DAY 5 • Explore Zadar • Croatian language lessonAfter breakfast onboard, you’ll ride into the center of the city for a tour of Zadar. Stroll along the marble, pedestrian-only streets of Old Town, where you’ll discover the medieval churches for which the city
is famous, including St. Donatus’ Church—an imposing, round, stone building dating from the ninth century—and the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, a Romanesque-style cathedral built in the 12th and 13th centuries and which holds the distinction of being the largest church in Dalmatia. Later, you are invited to learn a few key phrases in Croatian during an hour-long language lesson.

DAY 6 • SplitThis morning after breakfast, you’ll set out to discover the Imperial Palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian in Split. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the greatest Roman ruin in southeastern Europe. The entire old section of Split, with the palace as its centerpiece, is a virtual open-air museum with the city’s contemporary life bustling through it, as you’ll discover. You’ll then have time for independent exploration of Split. Enjoy dinner onboard tonight.

DAY 7 • Hvar • DubrovnikCruise to Hvar early this morning. Upon arrival, disembark for a tour of this verdant, peaceful island blanketed in pine—an up-and-coming hotspot for rich and famous visitors from around the world.

DAY 10 • Dubrovnik • Kotor, Montenegro • Our Lady of the RocksEarly this morning, cruise to Kotor, Montenegro, a picturesque walled city nestled at the head of Europe’s deepest fjord. You’ll learn about the turbulent history of Kotor Bay before setting off on a tour to discover the architectural splendor of this ancient Montenegrin city, recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later this afternoon, you’ll depart for Perast, where you’ll board small boats bound for the baroque Our Lady of the Rocks shrine on a man-made islet.

DAY 11 • Korcula, CroatiaMany historians claim that Korcula was the birthplace of Marco Polo. Trace his footsteps, and otherwise behold this walled town, during this morning’s walking tour, highlighted by visits to the town museum, cathedral, and Abbey Place. You’ll take a walk to the city’s centerpiece: its castle. Later, your small group heads to a local farmhouse, where you’ll gain perspective on rural life in Croatia and the chance to savor a farm-fresh lunch.
