Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 5 & 6. 2014
Zechariah 9:+-10 Our Savior is a
peacemaker; who
rules to the ends of
the earth.
Psalm 145 “I will praise your
name for ever, my king and
my God.
Romans 8:9, 11-13 “Whoever does not
have the Spirit of Christ
does not belong to
Him.”
Matthew 11:25-30 “Take my yoke upon
you and learn from me.”
As we resume our Sundays in Ordinary Time, we will hear gospels from
Saint Matthew for most of the rest of this year. You may recall that
Matthew wrote for a mixed population of Jews and Gentiles, possibly in
Antioch and in his Gospel Jesus often speaks of God’s care for “the least”
and “the little ones”. We resume his Gospel narrative in the midst of the
chapters that address the opposition to Jesus from Israel. Today, Jesus is
publicly establishing His relationship with the Father and encouraging all
who are burdened to come to Him. Let us lay down our burdens and listen
to His message today.
Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 12 & 13, 2014
Isaiah 55:10-11
Psalm 65
Romans 8:18-23

After many years of selling
prayer candles, we have done
our best to keep the price at
$3.00 per candle.
Unfortunately, rising costs have
made it necessary to raise the
price of prayer candles to $5.00
each beginning July 14th.
Thank you for understanding!

Let’s be honest: following Jesus does not always make our
lives easy! Loving our enemies, suffering for others? No,
that is never easy. Even standing up for our beliefs, or
going to Mass on Sunday instead of the beach can be hard.
Jesus never said in today’s Gospel that we wouldn’t have
problems or that He would take our problems away.
Instead, Jesus said to come to Him when we feel burdened.
Ever feel like you are almost being crushed by your
problems? This is when Jesus offers us rest.
Jesus reaches out to us when we are down (though not just
then!) When we have exhausted everything, we are still
not alone. Jesus helps us to get up and to carry on. Jesus
promises to walk with us.
And, when we do this , when we come to Jesus when we
feel burdened, then over a looong period of time, we come
to find that the things that burdened us before become
lighter. What felt heavy lessen. Eventually, our old
struggles do not have the same weight as before.

program that focuses on Catholic knowledge,
tradition and practice. We guide and encourage
our students to strengthen their relationship with
God while giving them a firm foundation in the
academic areas. Our teachers integrate 21st
century skills with common core and national
standards.
We prefer our student applicants or preschool and
kindergarten to be born by August 1st,
however, we will assess each student before
deciding if they are ready for our program or not.
