14th Annual
Movement is all around us.
Our bodies and minds in constant motion, connecting with and expressing
ourselves to the world. It is so much of who we are.
It’s easy to take movement for granted.
Multiple sclerosis stops people from moving.
We exist to make sure it doesn’t.

Ryan & Sonia RenRyan Ren has lived with MS his whole life. His father, Robert Ren, Jr., was diagnosed with MS shortly before Ryan was born in 1976. (At the time, there were no FDA-approved treatments for people with MS. The first one wasn’t available until nearly 20 years later.) As a child, he grew up experiencing the challenging effects MS can have on one’s life when a parent lives with the disease. Ryan’s father passed away from complications of MS in 1999 at the age of 56. He had a valiant 25-year battle with the disease.
Ryan and Sonia met and married in 2003. Seven years later, they were surprised when Ryan was also diagnosed with MS at the age of 34. At that difficult time, they had three small children – 5, 3 and 2 years old in addition to Sonia being eight months pregnant.
Since Ryan’s diagnosis, both now know firsthand the impact MS can have on a family, a marriage, a childhood, and one’s outlook on life. Ryan also now feels closer to his father because he knows what he went through while living with MS, including trying to be a good father and husband. Today, as proud parents of four active children, Ryan and Sonia seek to show others living with MS, and other life challenges, that hope and happiness are never far away.
2013 Committee MembersIt takes very passionate and inspired individuals to organize a fundraiser that is dedicated to achieving a world free of MS.
By joining our movement, Philip G. McCarthey and the 2013 Steering Committee have not only made this one of
Utah’s premier fundraising events, but they are dedicated to creating a world free of MS.
We thank them for their time, insight and generous contributions.

RE-INTRODUCING
AS ORIGINAL AS YOUWhen artists make exclusive print runs of their work, they sign and
number each piece. A 1⁄1 mark represents a total original, something
unlike anything else. This singular approach is evident in the exclusive
relationships O.C. Tanner Jewelers maintains with the world’s most
exceptional makers of jewelry and in the one-of-a-kind pieces that
our master craftsman creates to honor the stories of people like you.
You’re an original. Celebrate your 1⁄1 story at O.C. Tanner Jewelers.
