Lenten Regulations

1. Everyone 14 years of age or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays

of Lent.

2. All from the age of 18 years up to the beginning of their 60th year are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday

and Good Friday.

3. On these two days of fast and abstinence, only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless

meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they

should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted on these two days, but liq-

uids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously af-

fected, the law does not oblige.

4. To disregard completely the law of fast and abstinence is sinful.

5. Lent is the principal season of penance in the Church year. Therefore, all of the faithful are strongly

urged to develop and follow a program of voluntary self-denial. All Catholics are encouraged to support

generously the charitable works of the whole Church, pray and perform works of charity and mercy.

6. Those who are sick, pregnant, or nursing, or whose health would adversely be affected by fasting or ab-

stinence, should not consider themselves bound by these norms.

1. Personas de 14 años y mayors deberán abstenerse de comer carne el Miercoles de Ceniza y todos los

viernes de Cuaresma.

2. Personas de 18 años y mayorEs hasta 59 años de edad deberán ayunar el Miercoles de Ceniza y el Vier-

nes Santo.

3. En esos dos dias de ayuno y abstinencia, solo un alimento que no sea carnivoro es permitido. Otros dos

alimentos sin carne, suficiente para mantenerlos Fuertes, pueden tomarse de acuerdo a las necesidades

de cada persona, pero juntos no deberian ser igual a otro alimento complete. Comer entre alimentos no

es permitido en esos dos dias, pero liquidos, incluyendo leche y jugos de frutas si son permitidos. Cuan-

do la salud o la habilidad para trabajar este seriamente afectada, la ley no sera aplicable.

4. No sujetarse a la ley de ayuno y abstinencia es pecado.

5. La Cuaresma es la temporada principal de penitencia en el año Catolico. Por lo tanto, a todos los fieles

se les insta a desarrollar y seguir un programa de auto-negación voluntaria. Todos los Católicos se les

Amy Lawler. Her talk will focus on Project 3:11, a

We look forward to welcoming your child into the life of the

Church. It is required for parents to attend two preparation

classes before having their child baptized. Please call the

Parish Center to register for classes prior to the birth of your

child. When choosing godparents, please keep in mind that

godparents are required to be practicing Catholics who have

received the sacraments of Baptism, the Eucharist, and

Confirmation and are at least 16 years of age.

WEDDINGS: Arrangements are to be made six months in advance

with one of the priests.

RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION): Saturdays, 4:00 to 4:45 p.m.

in the Church, or anytime by appointment.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Call the Parish Center immediately

in case of emergency, or to schedule a visitation for the

homebound or for the hospitalized.
