story. The son of AP Arrow finished 4,25 lengths second to Jack Friday over a mile four runs back when giving him 3kgs. He now receives a kilo from the Human galloper (thanks to Nicholas Patel’s claim) and the 4kgs turnaround is worth taking into account.

The third of the Prinsloo runners is the topweight Pontedera, who appears to have lost his form recently.

That slump includes an ill conceived attempt on the Gr3 Racing Association Handicap

on Summer Cup day. He may have benefitted from a 13 week break though, but has a helluva lot of pudding to lumber.W

The Bill Human yard were in devastating form at Flamingo Park last Monday with five winners and they may pay to follow this week again when they saddle seventeen runners at the same venue.

Their Greys Inn gelding Jack Friday certainly warrants attention in the day’s topliner.

They raced on the turf on Friday where very marginally the fastest of the three 1200m races was the first division of the MR68 Handicap won by TONY THE REBEL. Always handy, the former Gauteng campaigner took up the running 300m out and won going away by three and a quarter.

The faster of the two 1000m races on the card was the fillies’ juvenile plate won by EMMYPOT. Sent off fourth in the betting market at 6/1, the daughter of Soar With Eagles was soon positioned close up in second. She put her head in front going through the 300m and won comfortably from her more fancied stable companion O’TAMARA by a length and three quarters.

Quickest home in the two 1400m events was MEMPHIS MAFIA in the bill topping Ibhayi Stakes (L). Another to race handy, Dorrie Sham’s charge took up the running at the 400m marker and won well from the more fancied FLY LIKE THE WIND by a length and a quarter. Memphis Mafia has now won five of his last six starts.TITBITS

The 16/10 favourite THORNBIRD made all when winning the maiden plate over 1000m with some in hand.

Friday evening’s action took place on the poly track where surprisingly the only distance to stage more than one race was 2000m. There were four races over the trip in total and the fastest of these was the MR66 Handicap won by ZAVARONI. Well supported into 18/10 from 3/1, Sean Tarry’s charge raced sixth during the early part of the race. She quickened nicely at the top of the straight and despite losing a shoe somewhere along the line, won going away by three and a half.

In terms of distance the easiest victory on the card was recorded by RIVER COURSE when opening her account in the maiden 1600m. Backed into favouritism at the track, the daughter of Ideal World was taken straight to the front by Brandon Lerena and was very quickly two lengths clear. She was always in command and went on to score with authority by five and a half.

Another to win well on this card was TALES OF MAMBO in the MR66 affair. Racing handy in what was always a tightly bunched field, Tony Nassif’s charge was ridden to lead 150m from home and won comfortably by a length and a half.

TITBITSKINGS LADY took a bump twice en-route from midfield when getting up late to win the maiden plate over 2000m.

Saturday’s action took place on the old stand side track where marginally the faster of the two juvenile features was the listed Ruffian Stakes contested by the fillies.

EXQUISITE TOUCH was sent off deep in the red to win the race and she didn’t let down her supporters. Soon up handy, the daughter of Var took up the running shortly after passing the halfway mark and only having to be pushed out won well by a length and a quarter.

There were four races run over 1000m in total and the fastest of these was the listed Bauhinia Handicap won by EASY GAME. Freely available at 25/1 on the off (op 14’s), the unfancied Var mare was soon up handy. She put her head in front shortly after passing the 200m marker and

comfortably accounted for the front running SPRING WONDER by two and a quarter.

Marginally the faster of the two 1100m events was the pinnacle stakes won by MOD BARLEY. Soon three lengths clear, Paul Peter’s charge kept on strongly at the business end of the race to beat the steadily gaining pack headed by AURUM POT.TITBITS

NEVER GIVE IN lost a shoe en-route from midfield when winning the opening maiden plate over 1000m very comfortably by two.The 3yo VAL ET AL showed good improvement when winning the faster of the two 1600m events, a MR85 Handicap going away by three and a quarter.

Followers of the money got off to a good start in Cape Town on Saturday when ATTENBOROUGH did the business in what proved to be the fastest of the three 1200m events, a maiden juvenile plate over 1200m. Eventually sent off at 11/20 after opening up at 18/10, the son of Western Winter was soon up handy. He was ridden to lead going through the 400m and with the rest some five lengths adrift, he held off a determined challenge from the newcomer CREAM SODA GREEN by a half.

The bill topping MR80 Handicap was the faster of the two 1600m races and here SUBLIME LADY registered her second career victory. Always handy in

what was a small but useful looking field, Mike Bass’ charge took up the running 300m out and just had enough in hand to beat the running on GOODTIME GAL by a neck.

There was also two races run over 1400m, and fastest against the clock in these was SILVER SNAFFLES in the MR72 Handicap. He led from pillar to post and more than doubled his advantage to three and a half over the final 400m.

TITBITSLightly raced CHILL BABY CHILL ran on well from midfield when getting up late to win the fillies’ division of the maiden juvenile 1200m.

Jaguar stays well and is a consistent fellow who rarely runs a bad race. The son of Tiger Ridge ran on well from a little way off for third

behind Taso The Sailor in the Kimberley 1400.

He will be effective over the extra and is a fit horse.

Former Mike de Kock galloper Evercell has won over the course and distance and showed his well-being with a good win over 2200m at his last start.

He looks held by Jack Friday and Quid Rides though and will be staying on for minor place money at best.

Very FitThe 3yo Country Gent will

strip fit – he has had a lot of racing lately.

He was beaten 3 lengths over the course and distance by a cleverly ridden Down Mexico Way at his penultimate jump – but looks held by the likes of Quid Rides.

Seattle Sunset was beaten 8 lengths by Yesan Star last time out, but won two on

the trot over shorter earlier on. His Vaal 1800m form suggests he may be some value as a quartet kicker if he gets his act together.

Craig Zackey rides a half kilo over on the formless Valde Velox, who makes his Kimberley debut.

The son of Horse Chestnut

was formerly with Mike Bass in Cape Town and Gavin Smith in PE. He looks modest at best and will need to up his game.

Jaguar and Jack Friday look the two most likely to fight it out, with Lebeoana and Quid Rides the dangers.
