Dear Girlfriends,

It’s the season to celebrate! Join Mimi (pictured below) in c

elebrating

what your support for women artisans can do to

improve their daily

lives. We had the honor of meeting Mimi this year in her hom

e

country of Cote d’ Ivoire. Mimi is one of the first w

omen in her country to

reach the export market since civil war ended

in 2012. She couldn’t wait to show

us the new metal roof she was able to add to

her workshop with the proceeds

from the sales of her handmade jewelry. Does

replacing a leaky thatched roof

sound small? It’s not when that roof helps provid

e a more stable income by

preventing damaged product and allowing a safe

space for Mimi to employ more

women. YOU make a difference! Your simple pu

rchase of a woman made product

from Global Girlfriend this holiday season will fee

d families, send children to school,

and grow opportunities for women like Mimi globally. That’s worth

celebrating!

Peace & Best Wishes,

Stacey

Safe Childbirth in Lesotho, AfricaPregnant women in Lesotho face a high mortality rate and a strong prevalence of HIV. Accessing medical help is not easy. Partners In Health (PIH) is training local midwives so they can provide comprehensive services. In addition, PIH is also encouraging women to give birth at the clinic in the town of Bobete. The long journey over rough terrain can be near impossible for a woman in or close to labor, so PIH offers pregnant women the opportunity to arrive prior to delivery and stay in “Mothers’ Houses,” provided by PIH. I see Haiti brimming with products that are marketable internationally.” Ayiti’s soaps don’t just create jobs for Haitian women, but the company also focuses on the environment.
