'More jewels!' says Sinbad, andhe puts some of the beautifulstones in his bag.Soon he begins to feel hungry.'There are lots of jewels here,'he thinks. 'But there's nothingto eat. I must look forsomething. But where?,

Sinbad takes wood from thewrecks and makes a boat fromit. He puts the boat on the riverin the cave and gets on it.He rows for days through thedark cave. He feels more andmore hungry every day.

After six days, he's very ill and tired.But then he sees some blue sky. Hecan also see two strange men.'Welcome to the country of Serendib!,they say.

'Please give me somethingto eat!'cries Sinbad. Themen give Sinbad lots ofdifferent things, and heeats for hours.'You're a lucky man,'saythe men. 'Come with us tosee our king.'

Sinbad gives some of the jewels to the

kirrg. He also tells him about the most

irnportant man in Baghdad, the Caliph.'Your Caliph is a very good and wise

rn¿rn,' says the king. 'Here are somepresents for him.'
