Somebody giggled and I stiffened………..An impulse to write would flash through me, but my hand would refuse to move. The childrenbegan to titter and I flushed hotly.”

1. Do you think what Richard’s classmates did was right? How would you advise them, if you werethe teacher? Write two different pieces of advice that the teacher would give to the students. Use‘should’, ‘shouldn’t’, ‘ought to’ etc.. 2

2. Imagine that you are Richard’s teacher. You are back in the staffroom. You tell one of yourcolleagues what has happened in the classroom. Narrate the incident in about 40 words. 4

3. Some of the students approached Richard after the class. They wanted to beg his pardon for theirunhealthy attitude towards him. How would they apologize? Write two different sentences of apology. 2.

4. Dr. Abdul Kalam’s speech must have awakened the civic sense of the audience. You werepresent when Kalam delivered the speech. plan was to use the salary income to purchase her ticket and study in the U.S. A colleague asked herabout her future plans and the resistence she was facing from her family and friends. Construct adialogue between Kalpana and the colleague. There should be at least five exchanges.
