  • List of GPS relevant ISO-standards Page 1 of 21

IntroductionThis document contains a table showing a list of GPS-relevant ISO-standards - status May 2013. The standardsare mentioned in the order of increasing issue numbers. This Edition 25 of the list replace the May 2013, 24thedition. Changes in this list are marked with colour codes in the left column of the table (see the colours codesin the bottom of this page). 21 documents have had a new status from the 24th to the 25th edition.

The list contains all GPS relevant ISO standards in the following GPS-matrix system categories:

S Fundamental GPS standardsS Global GPS standardsS General GPS standards

But the list is not complete and exhaustive in the category:

    S Complementary GPS standards

A few process specific complementary standards are in the list. The list also include standards concerning thedrawing picture/views, not part of the GPS matrix system.

The list contains more than 250 standard documents. The documents can be split up into three types:

    - ISO standards which are in force at the moment for the tolerancing of drawings and/or for the verification(measurement) of requirements given on drawings.

    - ISO standards withdrawn. The list is far from complete for this type. The mentioned withdrawn standards areonly given because they are the most important for the interpretation of older drawings, and standards wherethe rules of interpretation are changed in later editions.

    - Working documents, not finalised, but expected to be stable in their content and is expected to be publishedwith this content.

The table - its design and content

The columns contain the following information: Column #1 - TypeThe designation of type show the different type of ISO documents, e.g.:

    ISO ISO - standard

Other types of ISO documents than ISO standards exist:

ISO/TR (Technical Report) with an informative and educational content,

ISO/TS (Technical Specification) with a content as a standard, but with a shorter development time anda shorter lifetime before reissue or reconfirmation is needed,

ISO/R (Recommendation) former designation for a standard. This designation is not used anymore fornew standards.

New documents or documents with major change of are marked with colour in column #1 Type New status

ISO 18 New or change of status in the 15th version - November 2011

ISO 12 New or change of status in the 16th version - January 2012

ISO 14 New or change of status in the 17th version - March 2012

ISO 19 New or change of status in the 18th version - April 2012

ISO 17 New or change of status in the 19th version - May 2012

ISO 33 New or change of status in the 20th version - August 2012

ISO 25 New or change of status in the 21th version - October t 2012

ISO 8 New or change of status in the 22th version - December t 2012

ISO 25 New or change of status in the 23rd version - February 2013

ISO 23 New or change of status in the 24th version - May 2013

ISO 21 New or change of status in the 25th version - August 2013

  • List of GPS relevant ISO-standards Page 2 of 21

    Column #2 - Issue number

ISO (and CEN) documents have a unique issue number for identification. A series of standards concerning thesame issues can have the same issue number, but will then have different part numbers.

    Column #3 - Status

In this column every document is designed to explain its present status:

P The document is in force at the moment.

T The document is withdrawn (The cell in the table is darkened to make it more visible)

WD, CD, DIS and FDIS is designations for ISO working documents in the different stages of development.Mentioned in the order they appear in the development process:

WD Working document in a working group under an ISO Technical Committee. The first sketch for thestandard.

CD Official proposal for the content. Ballot take place in the ISO Technical Committee

DIS Draft International Standards. Ballot take place in ISO - with technical comments

FDIS Final Draft International Standard. Ballot take place in ISO - with editorial comments

    UP Under Publication

    Column #4 - Edition number

The issue number is not necessary unique. Examples exist, where two documents with the same issue numberhave the same edition number. The issue year is a more safe and unique identification. Working documents haveno edition number in the table.

    Column #5 - Issue year

Issue year of the document. Observe that CEN standards based on ISO standards may have a later issue dateand issue year than the identical ISO standard.

    Column #6 - Issue month

    Column #7 - GPS-matrix relation - G

The relation to the GPS-matrix system is identified by the following letters in the table (see figure 1):

    F Fundamental GPS standard

    B Global GPS standard

    G General GPS standard

P Process specific complementary GPS standard - General tolerances

M Machine element specific complementary GPS standard - Tolerance systems for special geometries

T Not part of the GPS-matrix system - Drawing picture/views

U Not part of the GPS-matrix system - miscellaneous
