Transcript of 129th Annual Meeting

President’s LetterAs President of the International Trademark Association, I am pleased to welcome you to the Association’s 129th Annual Meeting in the exciting city of Chicago.

To celebrate the musical tradition in Chicago, we are incorporating blues and jazz music throughout our Annual Meeting, from the educational programs to the networking receptions. Each day this week will start off with a highlighted session, offering discussion on some of today’s most important trademark issues and case law. Arrive early to participate in these stimulating sessions and stay the rest of the day to take advantage of the other exciting and informative sessions, workshops, roundtables and the Exhibition Hall.

In addition, McDonald’s Corporation Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner is the meeting’s keynote speaker. Mr. Skinner will discuss issues relating to the development and protection of McDonald’s internationally known brand and its value to the restaurant industry.

There will also be ample opportunities for fun and networking with your colleagues and business associates throughout the week, including the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening and the Grand Finale on Wednesday. For your convenience, the Hospitality Area will have extended hours this year. In the Exhibition Hall, you will find more than 90 exhibitors offering information on the latest products and services for trademark professionals. Our 2006 – 2007 committees will also meet to address issues critical to the global protection of trademarks and to the Association.

Although there will be plenty to do at the meeting, I hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy one of my favorite cities – Chicago (the “Windy City”). When I lived in Chicago, I enjoyed the easy accessibility to museums, shows and sporting events, as well as the wide variety of restaurants. I encourage you to visit three of the tallest buildings in the world, attend a show at one of more than 200 theaters or walk through the beautiful Navy Pier and Millennium Park along Lake Michigan.

I look forward to seeing you during the next few days.
