Attendance
Attendance at classes is part of your commitment as a student who wishes to achieve the
qualification attached to the course. In addition it is a condition of the visa for overseas students.
All attendance will be closely monitored by your tutor and administration. If your attendance is
poor or erratic and your tutor feels that this will reduce the chances of you successfully completing
the course then this issue will be discussed with you. If your attendance does not improve you may
be asked to leave the college.
In addition there are some strict rules that will be applied. According to the UK Border agency rules
a student who is absent from class for 10 consecutive days without reasonable explanation must
be reported to the Border Agency. In these circumstances they will take action to cancel your right
to stay in this country.
The college will do its best to help where there are genuine reasons for this absence but you must
contact us and let us know. We would need concrete evidence for your absence. If you make any
false declarations we may cancel your admission and the UKBA will be informed.
If you miss a class your tutor will attempt to contact you to find out the reason. If your tutor is
unable to contact you and you have not contacted the college within one week, a letter will be sent
to your home address. If you ignore this letter and are still absent for a further week (10
consecutive days in all) then the college will have to report you to the UK Border Agency.
You must maintain your attendance for at least 80% of the time
Students who are regularly more than 20 minutes late for lessons will be marked as absent for the
session and the above rules will apply

Reinstatement at the College will only be possible if you are able to contact us before the Border
Agency has cancelled your visa. After that point it will be too late. Reinstatement is entirely on
discretion of Directors and 10% of course fee will be charged.
Accommodation / Living Costs
Advice on housing issues can be obtained from the student welfare officer. Whichever type of
accommodation you choose, you may have to pay a deposit when you move in. This could be up to
one month’s rent in advance.
If you want the college to arrange your accommodation please send us your request 6 weeks
before you arrive to UK. You can download the Accommodation Request form from website.
The college is advising single overseas students starting their course that they will need at least £50
per week for accommodation and the same for food and other necessities.
Student should consider £8500 for all the living costs in UK. This figure is an estimate and is
designed to cover the total cost of accommodation, food, entertainment, clothes, books and a
limited amount of travel within the UK. This figure may be higher for subsequent years. It will also
be higher for students who bring their spouse and dependants with them.
Change of Address/Contact Details
Communication between the College and our students is essential if you are going to have a rewarding
experience with us. However we cannot do this if letters and phone calls to you go to the wrong address. In
addition it is a requirement of the UK Border Agency that the College is kept informed at all times of where
a student is living. When you come to the UK you must tell us where you are living and provide us with
some proof of address. It is also your responsibility to tell us if you change your address. Please ensure that
the information that the college has on your file is complete and accurate.

Academic Practice
UK College of Arts and Technology is committed to delivering high quality teaching in a supportive and
friendly environment. As a student at the college we expect you to do your best and to abide by certain
principles in their work. In this modern world access to information and knowledge via the internet has
become increasingly easy; however the principles regarding the use of this knowledge have not changed.
At the end of their course students should be able to:
Analyse, evaluate, discuss and summarise existing ideas and knowledge.
Present their own ideas in a logical and accessible manner.
Critique arguments and produce sound conclusions.
Where information is taken from any other source in pursuit of these objectives (e.g. books, articles,
internet etc) then the source of this information must be referenced and the information identified in
quotation marks. The college cannot accept work where a student attempts to pass off somebody else’s
work as their own as it will become a case of plagiarism. If it is proved that a student copied work in this
way without acknowledging the source then serious action will be taken. The work in question will be
cancelled and all other work submitted by the student will be thoroughly checked. If other cases are found
then all of the students work, and their place on the course, may be cancelled and this will be recorded on
your student file.
