Wake Forest, North Carolina Downtown Wake Forest is known for it’s big city energy and small town charm. The area is North Carolina’s 9th fastest growing municipality, with dozens of proposed and under constructions developments in the pipeline. Wake Forest is in the middle of a downtown renaissance, seeing much of the same growth as it’s neighboring Raleigh markets.

Ranking as one of the most highly educated municipalities in the Triangle, over 50% of Wake Forest residents have a bachelor’s degree or higher. The small town has big connectivity with quick access to three large universities (UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, and Duke), as well as multiple community colleges and Downtown Wake Forest’s Southeastern Babtist Theological Seminary.

The town center is home to art galleries, coffee companies, specialty shops, restaurants and boutiques that have come together to revitalize the area’s buildings and sense of community. Notable businesses include Shorty’s Hot Dogs, which has been in business since 1916 in its original location, White Street Brewing who’s Kolsh won Gold at the World Beer Festival in 2014, and the Cotton Company that serves as a marketplace of specialty boutiques and upscale home décor and gifts. Downtown restaurants include Back Alley Coffee Roasters, Backfins Crabhouse, The Burger Shop, The Forks Cafeteria, LaForesta Italian Café & Pizzeria, Las Margaritas, The Lemon Tree, Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Sugar Magnolia Cafe, Ollies Café, Over The Falls, Pizza Amore, and Wake Forest Coffee Co.

Numerous festivals and community attractions come to Wake Forest throughout the year, such as HerbFest, the Mardi Gras Festival, ItaliaFest, OctoberFest, Microbrewery Festival and local favorite Friday Night on White: a live music and food truck series that hosts over 9,000 attendees every 2nd Friday of the month throughout the warmer summer.
