| Hydropower Business Division |

Hydropower Business Division encompasses the works of site-investigation, design, supervision and management for the constructions of dams, hydropower plants and pumped storage power plants, which enable the efficient development and economic use of water resources to be made, and it is currently expanding its business realm to the projects for canals, tidal, recyclable energy and appurtenant facilities of nuclear power plants. The division, which has participated in more than 60% of constructions of domestic large dams and hydropower plants, including the Chun-gju multi purpose dam, the largest in Korea, and the Yangyang pumped storage power plant, the largest in the Orient, is making efforts towards the efficient and economical utilization of water resources and its eco-environmental development with the technology and experiences acquired from the internal and for overseas projects.

Water Supply & Sewerage Business Division carries out preliminary studies (master planning and feasibility study), design and supervision works in the fields of (i) water supply system which makes the production and supply of drinking water, industrial water and environmental water and (ii) sewerage system which collects and treats the sewage and waste water discharging from the various types of water used and then recycles them back to the nature. In preparation for the future in which construction of water supply and sewerage facilities will be completed, it is also expanding its business scope to the activities to diagnose and improve the efficiency of the existing treatment facilities, operation and management of such facilities on consignment, management of water supply and sewage system facilities, participation in the overseas projects.In Environmental Department, various environmental facility designs have been implemented and developed for wastewater treatment from industrial complex and live stock, waste landfill and incineration facilities, recycling handling facilities, natural purification facilities in the river, and non-point source control facilities in order to decrease environmental pollution and to improve environmental conditions.

Highway & Airport Business Division consists of (i) Highway & Airport Department of which the ac-tivities comprise services from feasibility study to planning, design and supervision of expressways, national & rural roads and (ii) Structural Department performing design and supervision of bridges and road structures. Highway & Airport Department incorporates the eco-road concept harmo-nizing human beings with the nature and the U-road concept utilizing the ubiquitous approach to adding the quality of life to the design. Structural Department activities include an excellent job of designing such distinctive types of bridges as cable stayed bridges, suspension bridges, balanced arch bridges and extra dosed bridges with its own technology and, accordingly, achieves a lot of good results in various international design contests held in and out of Korea and demonstrates its technical quality in the overseas projects.

Railway Business Division carries out planning, design and supervision services of the track-related works including rail bed for high-speed railway, national main line railway, metropolitan railway and metro and also does the same services for the construction of train depots required for electric trains, high-speed trains, Light Rail Transit, locomotives, passenger/freight cars, etc. Recently we obtained the orders for the engineering services related to the railway systems in China, Azerbaijan, Algeria and Indonesia by virtue of its accumulated technology, know-how and experiences.

Urban Development Business Division carries out such engineering services as (i) national land development plan, (ii) city design for urban planning and development, and (iii) landscape design required for development of tourism complex, leisure-sports complex, park and cultural area. It grew up along with the national land development history by taking part in such various major national development projects as, among others, the Multifunctional Administrative City, Namak New Town, Redevelopment of the Northern Part of Busan Port, Enterprise Cities (Muan, Chungju and Southwest Coastal Region), tourism complex in the eastern part of Busan. In compliance with the Government’s policy to develop the coastal industrial complexes and new harbors, our Maritime & Coastal Department has carried out(i) design services for such works as reclamation, revetment and dredging required to develop super-sized coastal industrial complexes like Gunjang National Industrial Complex and(ii) comprehensive engineering services from plan-ning and design upto supervision for the development of large new harbors like the new outer har-bor of Mokpo, New harbor of Pyeongataek -Dangjin, new harbor of Busan, new harbor of Gwang-yang and the new harbor of Gunjang. It is currently expanding its service scope to the planning, design and consulting as well related to the new and renewable energy development, improvement of ocean environment. Also, based on our well-recognized technology in Korea, we actively develop and make our way into international markets for coastal development projects.

Environmental Assessment Department carries out all of environmental consultancy services for Strategic EIA, EIA and Small-scale EIA, and Post-Environmental Impact Study. In addition, the departments try, on one hand, to look for ways to deal with the ever-intensifying environmental laws & regulations and the environment-related trade barriers for and on be-half of the clients and, on the other hand, to minimize the damage to and/or pollution of the environment which are inevitably caused in the course of urbanization and industrialization.

Economic growth and increase in income level has led to an enormous increase in car ownership rate and it has brought out traffic and environmental problems such as severe traffic congestion, noise, air pollution, and etc. Also, an increase in traffic cost due to the traffic jams cause an adverse impact on national economic. Transportation Planning Department prepare and implement transportation planning, transportation operation, traffic impact analysis and its countermeasure, and other transport projects with comprehensive transportation technology and abundant project experiences in order to solve traffic problems.
