ADULT BASIC EDUCATION COURSES CAN HELP YOU WITH:

▣ Basic skills in reading, writing and math

▣ Test preparation for the General Educational Development (GED®) test

▣ The creation of a study plan for your individualized learning

▣ Computer and work-ready skills

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Programs are designed for individuals age 16 and older who are no longer in school.

▣ If you are age 16 or 17, you will need to provide a high school attendance disclaimer from the public high school in the school district where you currently live. (Contact the school’s administrative offices for this document.)

WHERE ARE PROGRAMS OFFERED?

Programs are offered at Antioch and Gardner Libraries, West Park Adult Education Center and JCCC’s Olathe Health Education Center (OHEC).

WHY ATTEND?

▣ Class size is small, with friendly people who are also seeking skills to improve their lives.

▣ A transition coach will assist you with your future plans.

▣ Professional instructors and volunteers provide you with one-on-one attention.

WHEN CAN I ATTEND?

Class sessions go from August through May (an academic year).

TESTING SESSION DATES AND TIMESNew students must attend two sessions of your choice to complete required testing.

▣ Students are REQUIRED to attend ALL SESSIONS above or they will NOT be allowed to begin classes.

▣ Students must study 8 HOURS per week.

▣ Students are expected to be in class a total of 6 HOURS PER WEEK.

▣ The remaining 2 HOURS per week can be spent either in the classroom or on computer-based study.

If you are planning to take the GED® exam, you will need government-issued identification with a photograph such as a passport or driver’s license.
