Enola West Caruso

Hornell, N.Y. On Nov. 27,2010 Enola West Caruso wasgranted her final wish and joined her beloved husband of61 years, Richard Joseph Carusoin Gods Kingdom. After 92years she left this world peace-fully in her sleep at the HornellGardens, surrounded by her lov-ing children.Enola was born Oct. 3, 1918 inBritton, S.D. She lived in Kin-neyville, Pa., Andover, WestNew York, N.J., and lastly madeher home in Hornell. Early em-ployment included live in"babysitter and house keeper forfamilies in Andover and Hornell.She was a cashier in the An-dover Market Basket and atLablaws in Hornell. While work-ing at her mothers grocery store

Marys Market she met thelove of her life Richie.Enola was a loving wife andmother. She was a wonderfulcook. Family and friends werealways welcome in her home,where there was always anabundance of food and roomfor one more at her table. Shewas a multi-talented wife,mother, and business woman.Together with Richie they estab-lished Richard Caruso Produce.

Her primary role was book-keeper and occasional bill col-lector. In the early sixties Enolaturned her love for knitting intoa successful business openingThe Knit Shop at her homeon 124 River Street. She enjoyedoperating her shop until the mideighties at which time she andRichie retired. They becameSnow Birds enjoying timewith family and friends in PortRichy, Florida. Enola loved hersummers at the family cottageon Loon Lake, where she was anavid fisherman. She takes withher many memories of her chil-dren, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren with whom sheloved to spend time with at thelake.Three years ago Enola decidedto make her home at HornellGardens and make it she did.She brought with her manythings from her home on RiverStreet including her cat. Herroom was decorated with love,and as at home, everyone wasalways welcome. Her pantry

was never empty and shetinued to feed and entertall. She took joy in compand decorating her roomher many puzzles. Enola many new friends and ished in her new home. Ehand and mind were neveShe was an avid reader, player, and enjoyed pcards. She spent countless enjoying playing games wfamily.

Enola had a passion for lifdid not diminish with agewas a tenacious womanmired by her family and ffor her strength and stthrough hard times. Enola remarkable woman and behind a legacy of lovlaughter. Her countless sand frank honesty will alwremembered by all whosshe touched. She loved heily as they loved her.
