#12 – The Blood Of The Passover

The Very Real Wrath Of God

We must be prepared for the coming judgment and wrath of God.

Only those protected by the blood of the Lamb will inherit eternal life.

Passover And The Wrath Of God

• Exodus 12 – the first Passover

• Important as a type of Christ and salvation through Him.

• Many new observances introduced for Passover.

A Change In Their Calendar

Exodus 12:2 -- “This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you.

Was Of National Importance

Vs. 6 – “You shall keep (the lamb) until the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight.”

It Was A Meal For Haste

• Vs. 11 – “Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste – it is the Lord’s Passover.

Was A Perpetual Statute Vs. 14 – “Now this

day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.”

Importance Of The Blood

Vs. 13 – “The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.”

The Wrath And Retribution Of God

Jesus Is Our Passover

1 Corinthians 5:7 – “Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.”

Jesus The Flawless Lamb

1 Peter 1:19 -- …but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.”

Crucified During Passover

Mark 14:12 – “On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, His disciples said to Him, ‘Where do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?”

Romans 3:24-25 “…being justified as a gift by His grace

through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

Blessings Through The Blood

Revelation 5:9 – “…Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

Forgiven Of Our Sins

Matthew 26:28 – “…for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many

for forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:13-14 – For He rescued us from the domain

of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved

Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Every Spiritual Blessing In Him

Ephesians 1:3,7 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ…. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”

And Finally – Eternal Life

Romans 6:22-23 – “But now having been freed form sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
